Working on a Mazdaspeed miata turbo install in an 94 M-Edition.

Who said it couldn’t be done, and honestly easier than I thought it would be. Had to do very little modifications to make this work; it’s smooth and simple power (and very quiet power) without a fuss.
Yes, I kept power steering and A/C, and used almost all the MSM charge pipes. Fired it up today and it runs like a champ. Using a first generation power card (the ultimate in engine management with the Official Miata.net Seal of Boomer Approval) with a normally open pressure switch to short O2 signal to ground during boost. All in all, To have less than 500 dollars in this turbo install, which includes the 50 dollars I paid for the pressure switch and power card, I came out pretty good, and we can all agree it will still have better drivability than a MSM Miata with factory ECU; seriously, I am not joking when I say that either, it’s that bad... As far as the exhaust goes? I am going with the OEM MSM downpipe with built in catalytic converter and I am going to weld that to the rest of the OEM NA exhaust (NA cat already removed), the goal here for me isn’t loads of power, I already have that with my 10AE turbo, the goal is 140 rwhp and equivalence in torque, and factory appearance, I don’t even want a boost gauge, just straight 7.5 psi wastegate should do it for me. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e618ad860.jpeg |
Here is a first start video, was impressed, no problems at all, no air leaks or coolant leaks, nothing. I maintained the IAC valve as well, a/c on and the car idled right where it should be. |
Got everything bolted back up and the engine bay finished, the car drives perfect, quiet, simple, 6.0 psi of boost. Tallied up the cost, 564 dollars and sixteen cents, and a couple of weekends vested in this project.
Outstanding... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...cfcf53662.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2eba17866.jpeg |
Good Job, looks stock.

Did you install a wideband to verify power card supplies correct fueling in boost?
