Wrong oil fitting and now leakage, need help
I have the ebay T28. I had assumed that its oil inlet flange was based off of the garret t28. Well, I guess not. My oil drain had to be custom too but seemed to have worked. My oil feed isn't working. When I put it in before the first start-up its fitment was "okay." After driving it around earlier it started leaking. When I started messing with it, I realized how really loose it is. I really need help finding the correct oil fitting. It is seriously just barely bigger than the garret fitting that I bought.

I don't think there is an "ebay T28" but rather several different Chinese manufactured turbos. I don't see how anyone on here can tell you what it is without seeing it. There are ways to figure out the size and pitch yourself. Google it.

As in my original post, I have a standard garret fitting and it just barely too small...

Let's see a picture of the oil inlet on the turbo. Some nice, clean close-ups where we can clearly see the threads, the bottom of the hole, etc. Don't use your cell-phone. We need clear pics taken from a camera with a macro function.
Maybe a link to the eBay posting you bought the turbo from. So far, you've basically said "I have a car. Can you tell me what size tires I need for it?" |
Okay, to start with is the link to the turbo...well except mine obviously did not come with the feed line. But it gives you all the specs about halfway down the page...

Does the fact that the standard garret fitting from begi being a hair too small not help at all? Is a garret bb fitting slightly bigger?

Okay, I've Googled a bit and it seems a lot of the ebay turbos are using 1/8npt fittings? Can any Ebay turbo-ers confirm this?

When you go to the store to buy the fitting, just take the turbo with you.

Okay, lowes didn't have anything that fit perfectly BUT I found something close. The 1/8npt is way too lose. The 1/4npt is just a bit too big. BUT a 1/4 flare screws in somewhat tight. Still a bit lose like the standard garret fitting but after a few turns stays tight.

You know, there are a LOT of fractional sizes between 1/8'' and 1/4''... maybe its one of those... I still say figure out the threads for yourself. Like GoSpeed said, you can buy a thread gauge to figure it out, or bring it to a machine shop and have them tell you.
I'm also going to guess its a metric fitting. |
I was thinking it might be metric too...I was also thinking about using a bb garret fitting...

call summitracing, they carry a large assortment of fittings to make that work. is it bsp threads? because that is different then npt and metric threads.

The only place that I could find a fitting to fit my T25 was here: -4 size Oil inlet fitting for T25/T28 or unrestricted GT25R/GT28R/GT30R/GT35R: atpturbo.com It does say that it is 1/4" inverted flare. I needed it mostly because most oil feed lines/fittings that I found were -3AN instead of -4AN and I had a -4AN line. |
well if thats a 1/4 flare then thats probably my best bet
