Got to finish up the Gen 2 MSPNPs first...

Any New Years MS3X Sales?

Matt Cramer 12-27-2011 04:36 PM

Sometimes Jerry has been known to hold a sale without warning, but if he doesn't declare a sale before New Year's Day it is unlikely there will be any more sales for a while.

gearhead_318 12-27-2011 08:27 PM

Ok, thanks.

gearhead_318 01-04-2012 04:24 PM

Also, if y'all ever get to making that soldering kit/shift light I'd like to get one.

sixshooter 01-04-2012 05:27 PM

You know what would be cool?
If we could buy an inexpensive little kit of some sort where a novice could learn to solder something useful and fun that everyone would want, like maybe a shift light or something. And where they could develop the skills and confidence to build other things DIY Autotune might sell. :)

What do you guys think? lol

Why sixshooter, that is a fantastic idea. Somebody should make a thread in order to promote the concept.

Ranger the F up and just start soldering. Actually, I found that just getting a bunch of wire and practicing splicing made me pretty damn good at just about anything requiring an iron after awhile.

That said, a DIY shift lite would be awful neat...

It's something we want to do, but can't until after the launch of MSPNP Gen 2. We've got a lot of cool stuff in the works right now.

I don't want to pester y'all too much, but is there a possible guesstimate on the ETA of such a kit?

Been practicing a ton to polish up my soldering skills before tackling my DIYPNP. I bought a couple of those $10 circuit kits from radio shack. I think one more and I'll have the confidence in myself to do the MS.

Ben 02-10-2012 04:46 PM

Are they Velman kits? We put a few together to see if we felt they were something we should carry. The quality of those kits was pretty poor, so we decided we wouldn't carry them. The DIYPNP components and instructions are much better than Velman's. Our kit will have a lot more parts than theirs will, but ours will solder up much easier.

http://www.apogeekits.com/electronic_mini_kits.htm

Those are the exact kits that RadioShack carries, although they are half the price on that site lol.

I feel like the 40w soldering iron might be too hot to do the MS. What wattage irons do you guys use to build the MS? If the 40w one that I have is too hot I wanna build another circuit or two with a cooler one to get used to it.

Matt Cramer 02-10-2012 05:08 PM

We use 60 watt soldering irons ourselves - they're Weller irons with a pretty good quality tip and a fixed temperature setpoint. Never had a problem with them burning parts.

Thanks for the info. Ordering in the next couple hours.

Yawn, the MSPNP V2 has been out for how many months now? lol.

I know you fellas aren't just sitting around contemplating the lint in your navels but it sure would be a useful thing to have a cheap little shift light for the track.

We have a number of cool things drawn up and currently in progress.
