Why is DIY putting a BP in a Nova?

:squint:

Zabac 01-24-2008 04:08 PM

cause they can!!! lol
really, is this on their site or something? id like to see what happens

Ben 01-24-2008 04:10 PM

HaHa.
Mr Cramer's car?

cjernigan 01-24-2008 04:20 PM

:useless:

Stealth97 01-24-2008 06:45 PM

Cramers got a dodge dart with a slant 6.

If they did put a BP in a nova, I think it would be sweet. I cant thing of a better way to piss off the import and the american muscle guys. Big turbo and 400hp it would be faster than many of the muscle car guys too.

Fireindc 01-24-2008 08:15 PM

Either way its fucking stupid.

ApexOnYou 01-24-2008 09:04 PM

I think its badass. Why? Because it makes you think "What the fuck?!"

miatamania 01-24-2008 09:54 PM

but our motors...are...well...yeah.

Zabac 01-25-2008 09:06 AM

i think its badass, talk about rare swaps, most people go the other way
a V8 into a stock 4 bangger
i cant wait to see what happens

Braineack 01-25-2008 09:19 AM

oh no, someone cut us up the brg.

Saml01 01-25-2008 11:45 AM

This thread reminds me of fast and the furious tokyo drift, when they put the RB26 into the 68 rustang.

Arkmage 01-25-2008 03:04 PM

because they can?

OK, this has been fun to watch, but I can't keep quiet any more ;)

Yes we bought a Nova... Yes it's for R&D... But being parked next to a few Miata's is about as close as it's going to get to a BP motor! ;)

Would be cool in a way, but it's not why I bought the car.... It's currently a 350 4-bolt main, TH350 car with a 3.73 open diff. I'd guess it runs a 15 second 1/4mi. Haven't had it on the dyno yet. And it's got a funny look wart shaped thing on top of the motor and I can't find the fuel injectors anywhere!

But that's why I bought it... We'll be doing some testing and R&D work to help out the Carb-to-EFI guys this year, and this is the testbed... should be fun. And long term... I'm thinking we'll stick something nasty under the hood with at least one, likely two big boosty snails hanging off of it.

Jerry if you could beat accel with price and performance for a efi conversion i think you would make some good money. Alot of Chevy guys are scared of EFI unless it is LT1 edit etc. It is even worse than what we used to do in the miata market.

the diy guys have the coolest jobs on earth.

Mazmart has a flow bench?

TurboTim 02-08-2008 01:08 PM

Ben is Mazmart?

AbeFM 02-08-2008 01:09 PM

Yeah - dear old dad is interested in converting his "all motor" 11.9 second chevy vega with a 350 in it over the a MS. It's on his "someday list". But he keeps talking about the edlebrock kit, and I just can't imagine it's worth it.

Maybe I'll give him my old injectors and he can run it throttle body till he steps up and gets FI
