1/4 mile last night, 1st turbo

So last year I ran my car..my mods were a/c removal, cat removal, car weighed 2510lbs with me in it and I weigh 175lbs. I would stage the car to 4,000 RPMs and dump the clutch, it went best of 16.09 at 84mph.

Last night: This is the first run with the turbo setup. Weighed in at 2530 with me in it. I was running 93 octane with 7psi. My first pass was 14.615 @ 97.55 MPH with a 60' of 2.457. I still have the stock clutch so I was a baby about the launches. My second run I actually staged the car and launched it around 3500 RPM...wheel hop city, then I banged 2nd and the clutch slipped me right to the rev limiter. 3rd gear did the same thing, and the clutch slipped all the way to the finish line in 4th. It ran 16.172 @ 91.59 MPH, 60' was a 2.685.

Last run of the night: I left the light like a grandmother at an intersection, and then I got into it. The tires broke loose in 1st from like 5,000 RPM to 7,000 ( I shift at 7,000), the clutch slipped a little bit in 2nd and a little bit in 3rd. The car went 14.920 @ 99.34 MPH with a 60' of 2.777. So now I have an excuse to swap out my clutch! I am estimating that because I ran .66 seconds short of 100 MPH in the quarter mile with a slight traction issue and a shit clutch; AND my 60' time was total SHIT, with a clutch that grips hard and with a set of drag radials, I should see a 13.7 at least.

XTD stage 3 is your friend (if you're cheap)

I'd be a little apprehensive about DR's on stock axles.

Yeah I thought about that...I have a pair of drag radials on 14" rims I bought from a friend. They were on his Acura Integra, which ran like a 12.8?, and used once. They are approximately 5 years old and hard as a rock. I put them on my car today, cause my friend said "smoke em off and they should come back to life." The road was wet since it just rained, so I took the car right out front of my house and smoked the tires pretty good a few times. Then the road dried out, and I smoked them once more and did a mild launch. They hooked very well, slight tire spin, but no big deal...I slammed 2nd and it was nothing but clutch smoke. So I have the right tires, but now all I need is a clutch. In the Flyin Miata Spring/Summer catalog, they sell what they call a Stage 1 clutch for $349. They say it's as strong as an ACT Xtreme, but it has a better pedal feeling. They list it for $349 complete kit, but they said it isn't released yet. I am pretty sure this is what I am goin with.

fyi... another way to revive old race tires is wd-40 or brake fluid spread on thin... then wrap it in saran wrap overnight.

My ACT xtreme from FM is going 4 years strong boosted. I highly recommend ACT.
