12.512@111.36

The car hooked up well on 195/45/15s run at 20 psi. We set the boost to undershoot in first to get some bite.

Next up is this:

http://patrickschmidt.baked.net/albu...a/IMG_2577.jpg

Just kidding. Next up is a built bottom end and more boost. I hope to see 11s at 120+.

pschmidt 07-13-2008 08:39 PM

195 vs a proper tire.

Braineack 07-13-2008 08:39 PM

so jealous. where'd you go mason dixon? mir? next time to go let me know....

wait so did you use the slicks?

pschmidt 07-13-2008 08:47 PM

Capitol Raceway in Crofton MD. Yeah man, next time I'll post up. We're renting the place again in the fall around September. $90 for as many runs as you can make in 6 hours. I was sick of making passes at the end.

I ran on the 195s at 20psi. The slicks were a thought, but thankfully we couldn't find lugs to get the Bogarts on there.

18psi 07-13-2008 09:04 PM

can you PLEASE list your setup? that is a good time you ran, congrats

johndoe 07-13-2008 09:14 PM

you did that on only 12 psi of boost? nice

pschmidt 07-13-2008 09:14 PM

Now with video.

20 psi in the tires. 12 psi in the manifold.

johndoe 07-13-2008 09:26 PM

that's what I thought. Goddamn I need to finish my install.

2nd that, I was there as a witness however my ass could not pull the 12.5 but fun at that

Rafa 07-13-2008 10:09 PM

Patrick, are you running a 5 or a 6 speed?

Mach929 07-13-2008 11:02 PM

1.784 on 195 street tires is impressive

Seriously. Best I did first time out was an amazing 2.26 ;p

Chapman 07-13-2008 11:33 PM

How much hp/tq?

wes65 07-13-2008 11:38 PM

stock rear?

Zabac 07-14-2008 12:03 AM

I think Paul is running a BEGi S5 if I'm not mistaken, and stock motor, also a Torsen rear.

Very nice 60 time man, impressive to say the least, the 12.5 is not too shabby either. lol
Great time man.

IcantDo55 07-14-2008 12:21 AM

WHP?
Weight?

ApexOnYou 07-14-2008 01:52 AM

Nice!

+1 on the mod list, curious to see what you are running.

magnamx-5 07-14-2008 05:09 AM

dude that is a awesome time for 12 psi gratz.

thirdgen 07-14-2008 07:57 AM

Dude, this is exactly where I want to be with my car. Your 60' time I think is freakin outstanding! On those tires? That's pretty sick. Know what your WHP is? Did you weigh your car?

Braineack 07-14-2008 08:33 AM

It's a S4 manifold with a 2860 putting out 260rwhp.

Saml01 07-14-2008 09:50 AM

Very very impressive.

And to answer someone else's question, he said it is a MS 6-speed tranny.

pschmidt 07-14-2008 11:50 AM

Thanks guys.

Rafa: It's a 6 speed with a 3.63 rear end.

18psi:
The bottom end is stock.
Begi S4 with GT2860Rs.
3 inch exhaust turbo to tip.
Xede custom tuned by me :giggle:
Apexi AVC-R boost controller
Mazda comp motor mounts
Poly diff mounts.

257 hp 210 ft/lbs

I have no idea what the car weighs. It's heavy though.

Zabac 07-14-2008 12:16 PM

Man I knew it, that 3.6 rear is a must have!!! Do want, but with a 6spd.
What was your previous set-up, tranny/rear wise?

Well fuck I wish I would've know you were using XEDE, I didn't pay attention to what you were tuning with while you were on the dyno guess I just assumed it ws aomething else. I've really been wanting to check XEDE out though. Seems like it can make some pretty decent numbers atleast, are you happy with it thus far? I'm still open for that hardtop trade I offered by hte way.. :giggle: :giggle:

Fireindc 07-14-2008 12:40 PM

That is a great time man. I hope one day i can break 13's.

The 3.63 is a must have for sure. The 3.30 would be even better as it would probably let the car get through the traps in 4th. Shifting to 5th with the 6 speed is no fun. Everyone who drove the car missed 5th and coasted through in neutral a few times.

I had the 5 speed with a 4.3 when the car was naturally aspirated. Swapped the 6 speed in before the turbo. Talk about a smoke show. The car is much more drivable now with the 3.63; it feels slower but is much faster.

It's pretty easy to work with. If I can tune it, anybody can tune it.
I guess I'll keep it until the built motor goes in and see what happens. I have a 95% complete MS in my basement on standby.

I'm not sure if you can or not, but if you can re-flash the XEDE for a 95 i will gladly buy it from you whenever you switch over to MS

I thought you were logging .81 bar on the dyno for 245rwhp... i cant assume you need 6 more psi to make 10 more rwhp :)

paul 07-14-2008 01:05 PM

gotta get my bitch to the track SOON. top end in 4th is 127 on my nittos, not sure what diameter my Mickey T's are, maybe 22.5. any bets on times? i've never quartered the car at all. it weighs 2046lbs without me in it. 300/246 to the wheels. 3.90 torsen with 5speed. we were gonna hit it last friday but the track requires a fire jacket and i didnt want to drop $85 for that. we'll have to hit ATCO in south jersey, no fire jacket required.

If you can get it to hook up which it sounds like you will, I'd bet on a low 12, high 11 at 116+. Wheelhop is going to be your biggest problem I'd imagine.

gotcha!

ApexOnYou 07-14-2008 01:36 PM

So you cross the traps in 5th? Any idea what RPM?

Zabac 07-14-2008 01:53 PM

Probably low since he said some people coasted through the trap in neutral.
I assume that shift has to be kind of like the 2-3 in the 5spds.

JayL 07-14-2008 03:00 PM

Did you ever make any runs in the car prior to swapping the motor and diff mounts? Do you think they are helping you leave the line a bit smoother and also without worrying so much as to breaking the rear end?

ApexOnYou 07-14-2008 06:14 PM

I really want new gears now!

Sorry to threadjack Patrick but I have to ask APex; who's "pagsam486" on your Timeslip database and do you know what his setup is? I find that time incredible on a 238 whp Miata. I imagine he's got some nitrous.

pschmidt 07-14-2008 06:28 PM

Could you add me to the database? :)

paul let me know when you're going to atco, i've been waiting on a buddy with a chevelle forever to finish his car so we could go down together, and now he's totalled his tow vehicle. anyway i'm getting impatient

No clue, no posts, but the time seems legit enough. Wish they would speak up and post their specs! I also saw the Evo in 2nd that shouldn't be on the MIATA TURBO time slip board.. Oh well, what can you do.

Sorry but you have to add yourself, go into User CP / Edit Profile, towards the bottom of the page is vehicle info.

cueball1 07-25-2008 01:41 AM

2nd Jay's question.

Did you run it prior to the motor and diff mounts? If so, what did they do for you?

pschmidt 07-25-2008 09:41 AM

Sorry, I completely missed that question.

This was by first time at the track with this car, so I have nothing to compare it to. I will say that on the street, the diff mounts made the violent wheel hop much more bearable. Rather than hop, the wheels will spin and they can be reigned back in with the throttle.

hustler 07-25-2008 10:22 AM

in for rear end carnage.

pschmidt 07-25-2008 11:13 AM

It's going to be a while. Open track is next on the to do list.

Prospero 07-25-2008 11:13 AM

Wow, those #s are insane! Great job... not only does the car look good... it runs well too!

So BTW, when did u go with the Xede?

Cheers,
Prospero

cueball1 07-25-2008 12:36 PM

Ran the quarter for the 1st time in my life last night. RT's? We won't talk about those. I know, launch on the last yellow. Maybe I've gotta leave on the 2nd one.

Anyway, my 60' times, like many here, were the suck. 2.25 was about my best. Most were in the 2.4 range. Wheel hopping SOB.

What can you tell us about making these cars launch that well! We need to know!

pschmidt 07-25-2008 01:31 PM

Thank you. I've had the Xede in there since the day before I went turbo. Sometime in January when we got a warm snap if I recall correctly.

What can you tell us about making these cars launch that well! We need to know!

First, don't worry about the reaction unless you're running bracket or head's up. Sit there until you have everything set for your launch. That's the single most beneficial thing you can do to get a good ET.

The track had a reaction time competition that day. $50 to the first .500. I nailed a .504 and a .502 but just couldn't get it done.

At least it wasn't pro tree :giggle:

I did a TON of +2second 60 foots that day, so don't sweat it.

Here are some things that helped:

Do a dry hop after the water box to get the feel of the clutch

Leaving off idle resulted in a 1.9 60ft, but the MPH suffered.

We aired down the tires to 20 psi. This helped out with the wheel hop tremendously and definitely gave the car more traction.

Too much RPM out of the gate was the biggest killer. I played around with leaving at 3,200 and it was just too much. The wheels would spin and the run went to crap.

2,500 rpm seems to be the magic number for this car.
Pre-stage, hold the car rpm at 2,500, slip the clutch a tad to stage, quickly feather the clutch and feed in the throttle, right to the point where it felt like it was going to spin.

I'm kind of curious what 60 the slicks would have yielded. I don't think a sub 1.4 is out of the question.

I hope this helps a little.

blue turbo mx5 07-25-2008 04:34 PM

nice time

for the hp and boost very good

cueball1 08-01-2008 01:27 AM

Pschmidt,

Followed some advice. Thanks! Forget the RT's and concentrate on launch. My best was also at fairly low RPM's. Slipped the clutch plenty to keep from bogging. Amazing the difference in what a 2.0+ feels like vs. a 2.25. You definetly know when you get it right.

Hey, you still need to go into your cpanel and add your info. Go to details and scroll down. There are fill in blanks for 1/4, 1/8, times, mph, etc.
