1st ever dyno run
1 Attachment(s)
I went to to the dyno for the first time in my life this afternoon :giggle:
My setup is: Stock engine with a slight porting head job. This was with 8psi of boost no EBC no MBC (yet!). Begi S5 Manifold and IC 2.5" exhaust 550cc injectors Mtuned dual feed fuel rail T3/T4 fleebay Chinacharger AEM EMS I'm pleased with the fact that my tuner asked me before going to the dyno what kind of whp did I think my car was making and I told him 200whp dead on. It turned out to be that when we made the first pass, the numbers said 206whp. He also asked me what my goals were and I told him I wanted to set up a base and safe calibration. I'll be asking a lot of dumb questions about this so feel free to contribute. I want to take this opportunity to thank many of you who have contributed to getting this "Mechanically Challenged" individual this far. Many thanks to all of you!:bowdown::bowdown: |
nice, but why does the run start so late and end so early?
|
nice torque "curve" if you can call it that. pretty flat

Johndoe, I also don't know why the page they gave me starts at those rpms. I know I'll be back when my ebc is working properly (or when I finally get an MBC) to try it at 12psi. I must say it's satisfying to see I haven't blown the motor yet! :giggle: |

Congrats man! Nice numbers! :bigtu:
But the question is; now how does it feel to drive? Vash- |
Nice. +1 to reving it a bit higher next time. And post some pictures of the setup if you can.

But the question is; now how does it feel to drive? Vash- To be honest, it's getting to be really, really fun. When I get my new diff and tophats I'm going to up it to 12psi and take it to the local dragstrip. BTW, these guys meet every Wednesday and Thursday night at the strip. Local temp at this time of the year is: between 68 and 70 degrees at night. It'll stay like that until the end of March. Time to have some fun. |
The downward spiral begins. First it'll be 12psi. Then it'll turn into "I wonder how much the motor can take?", and then engine building time.:bigtu:

One other thing: it was showing 11.9 AFR while in boost. |

I bought an AEM WI kit from ebay which is already on the way. BTW, I tried the ebc and it worked but I would see 15psi at the boost gauge and the engine would caught off fuel. I'm not surprised since all I did was copy lazzer's boost control settings, lol! :) A special thank you to lazzer for his assistance in this final stage. Many thanks Jeff. :bigtu: |

You know what; now that I look at it once again, I get the sense my tuner thinks my engine is not in such good condition, otherwise, I don't understand why he didn't rev to car to 7,000 rpm. I know he asked me and I told him the engine would rev to 7,200 rpm.
nice numbers, next time pull from 2.5K all the way till you bounce. |

Looks like a MP62's plot.

8psi and 206hp...radical. Those are some decent numbers, I'd be happy with that. I must agree with what you say though, you're not satisfied and want more...12 psi is next. I ran 7psi and now I also want 12. I said 12 is my limit. I can tell you that won't be it...next will be 14...then a GT2860, then 18, then bottom end build...the party never ends. Congrats on those numbers!

I tried 15psi when testing the ebc and that is insane! I'm too old to go around with so much whp on a daily basis, lol. :) |

I don't believe how far my car has come. :bigtu: BTW, I'm so Mechanically Challenged that my tuner decided to make the pulls himself. That wasn't cool! Since I'm rambling so much (sorry, I've got work tonight and I'm kind of tired but have many hours ahead!); how do I quote more than one reply? |
Too old? There's this guy I know...not sure how old he is. I'd guess late 40's? He has an early 80's RX-7. Stock Turbo II motor, T-76 turbo with 35 psi? Run's in the 9's...Is tryin for the 8's. This obviously isn't a dialy driver. My guess is 12 psi is the perfect daily driver for a miata, cause you can control it until some dude in a souped up EVO tries to mess with you. That's all I am looking for, I don't want the fastest car around. I just want to be that dude that everybody around that has a "fast" car says..."Yo there's that miata...you don't want to mess with that thing, it's serious."
|
Is that on a 1.6 or 1.8? +1 on some pics.
