that boost thresh hold does seem a bit excessive for a .48 T3. I know it's only a 1.6L but I hit 12psi well below 4K rpm (last I check I hit 12 psi around 3.3K rpm). I think you're losing a lot of low end. Maybe not enough timing?

That must feel like a freight train when it comes on.

Thanks for all the kind words! I will get a video ASAP, possibly tomorrow after work. An yes it's fun when boost comes on, it sounds like a freight train with the dumped wastegate behind the drivers side wheel.

Rev that thing. The torque is flat at 6300; I bet the thing would make 330-340whp in current form if you revved it to 7500rpm.

Yeah- you say it'll go to 8k but it doesn't make any more hp. The torque curve says otherwise. Does it just free fall after 6500?

And I think your boost control is hurting your spool from 5200-6000 based on that curve. Turbo starts to take off and then spends 800rpm going from 13-15psi. Should get that tuned when on the dyno too.

I'm still curious as to why you needed load on the dyno to make more boost. That's getting into inflated numbers territory.

you say this run was only 12psi?

according to this sheet, if you had pulled to 7000-7500, the 300rwhp run should have been 320rwhp.

That was a mistake, I thought I was making 15 pounds. I went back to the dyno after talking to my tuner as of why I was making so much less power, it came to find out the dyno jet wasn't putting enough load on the engine (As the DynoJet doesn't hold load) and didn't allow my turbo to spool up all the way. That post was my fault, The dynojet doesn't read boost so I looked at datalog on my EMS and it was making somewhere around 12-13 pounds. I need load because the turbo is so big, it wasn't pushing enough air, the DynoJet is a single drum which isn't really a good dyno period in my opionon. I did some research on the topic and it happiens a lot with big turbo civic, and supra guys. All I know is at 301.5 whp run made 15.3 pounds of boost, the tuner told me they backed out at such an early RPM due to it not making much power beyond that, now I don't know the truth to that because looking at the dynojet run I do fall off a bit.

the torque drops a tad, but still you should peak HP around 6800-7000...look at the curve on the dynojet plot.

call the shop with the dynojet and try to get the .drf files from your run...

Your tuner is blind, ******* stupid, or both. HP = Torque * RPM. That torque curve looks FLAT when you stopped the pull; if it were to stay flat, or even drop 10-20ft.lbs, the HP would continue to rise. Get to a load-bearing dyno (Dynapack, Mustang, Dynojet with brake, etc) and rev that bitch.

You might be 110% correct. That's exactly why i'm getting it retuned and redyno'd this week possibly on a dynapak. Im going for 17 psi on pump, and 30 psi on C16. Well see how it goes, im getting it ran up to 8,000 RPM and getting the EBC messed with a bit. Thanks for the great imput though.

Don't rev it to 8K if the power is dropping off a 7500. It's pointless, proves nothing, and is pure hell on your engine. But +1 you will make more power if you rev it more. Just saying don't turn it 10K cause you can, or cause your friends cousin did it and his motor was fine.

Noah,

It is only 8:1 Static Compression. Also, He says that he has custom cams, which MAY have more overlap that would further decrease his DCR which would further raise his boost threshold.
