Default New personal best 1/8th mile

'90 NA
99 BP4W w/ BP5A cam, MS2, Riceland header, Enthuza exhaust, 4.10 Torsen.
Dyno'd 120whp/111tq last january.

7200rpm launch. 20x8x15 M/T bias ply slicks.
I'm going to try and sneak this rig into the 8's N/A. I'm going to need John Force to drive and to get it to 60' harder somehow but it's tough with no power. I was launching it off the rev limiter to break into 1.9x territory.

That is a pretty good et for the parts you have.

Are you bogging at all when you launch?

Nice. I bet you can get a better 60' too riding the clutch out of the hole. That's a very good ET for the setup! When I launched my car turbo (no torque) I would hold revs at 7-8K and ride the clutch to 40mph. I cut a 2.09 60' on 5yr old street tires doing that.

No, just hooks and goes with the slightest of chirps. The 3 best 60's were 1.92, 1.94, and a 1.95

The only way I could get it to not bog was to launch off the limiter. I started at 5k and worked my way up until it stopped bogging. I typically slip it a bit (think starting off on a super steep hill kind of engagement) but the car kept bogging. It was doing 2.0x 60's all night til I decided to go for broke. It's incredibly counter intuitive to launch a car the way this one has to be launched lol. If I was running drag radials I'd have probably broken something.

Next Thursday i'm going to try running a little less pressure in the slicks (I was running 15 psi cold) and unhooking the front sway bar. Might even try to find some 'skinnies' for the front.

Pretty impressive runs for NA Miata. Quicker than my G35 Sedan when it was stock: 9.49 @ 78.62, 2.35 60'.

Since you're looking for every bit you can get are you pulling any weight out of the car? Ditching the passenger seat doesn't take more than a couple minutes and drops some decent weight. If you have AC/PS you can pull the belt off real quick to take a little drag off the motor. Every little bit counts, especially when you're making 120hp.

The car should be fairly light. I bought the car with A/C and PS deleted. I've since installed a Kirkey aluminum seat, and ditched the passenger seat. FWIW the car dyno'd 104whp and 90something wtq on the same dyno with the stock ECU, racing beat intake and the aforementioned exhaust. Methinks it's a bit stingy.

I wasn't trying to make fun of the numbers by any means, just hoping to help you find a couple tenths. Sound like you've already covered my suggestions though. I'm sure cool weather this winter will help. Any plans for FI in the future?

No offense taken here lol. I knew what you meant. I don't plan on FI with this car. I'm a full time student and don't have the money to do it properly. So for the moment i'm just sticking with trying to go faster than my buddies N/A. I get to employ all this physics jargon i'm learning to make it happen.

Since you have a MS2, setup flat shift if you don't already have it. It will improve your ETs at least .1 seconds and makes running it easier since you don't have to lift the gas pedal while shifting.

I'd like to do that, as well as maybe launch control but i'm not really too keen on taking this rig apart and soldering.

Launch control is just 1 wire to the ECU from the clutch switch. Very easy to "wire" up!
