DIYAutoTune Tuned my Car Today

So I drove down to Atlanta to get tuned by DIY. I went down running 7ish psi on my wastegate. I left with 9psi controlled by my EBC. Final values were 195HP and 193ft/lbs of torque at 9psi. Here are some pictures of my dyno plot and my car on the dyno.

The reason we did not go higher then 9psi was I was getting spark blow out. I really need to get my cops in to get run higher. Jerry says I have headroom for another 3-5psi safely. Over all I am very happy with the results. I went in with a horribly running car and left with a car that I am now not afraid to drive. Thanks alot Jerry.

Are you still in Atlanta? There's a big Mazda gathering at the track this weekend.

Unforgently not, I headed to Charleston SC right after I got tuned. Got a week at the beach to enjoy. Had I known about the meet I would have stuck around though.

JDMAflac 07-19-2008 11:43 AM

How much did they charge per hour? and how long was the tuning?

cueball1 07-19-2008 11:45 AM

So where's the tune they came up with?!?

Post it up! Might help to figure out my idle issues on my 94!

Nearly 200hp and 9psi without an intercooler? Yowza.

They do great work, glad you're happy. Why spark blowout at 9 psi though? What're your plugs gapped to?

hustler 07-19-2008 12:30 PM

i could almost drive me shit to them for tuning. Instead I'm tuning while the guy runs the dyno.

cjernigan 07-19-2008 12:30 PM

Sucks you couldn't get over 9 psi. I would have ripped the plugs out and gapped them to .020" and tried again while you were there. I bet it drives great now.

He lists the S1 system. No intercooler on that system unless he's upgraded it. 9 psi is a bunch without the cooler.

Braineack 07-19-2008 03:16 PM

He has a BEGi S1 kit with intercooler but a SR20 T25 turbo. At 12psi the thing was a blast to drive...

Yah I have a front mount intercooler. Orginally my plugs were gapped at .035. We pulled the plugs and have them gapped at .026 right now. I really need to get in my cops to go higher. Those will be going in when I get back home in a week. Hopefully after that I will up my boost to 12psi. With the 9psi I am very happy and have had a blast driving it the past 2 days.

JdmAflac, They charged 125$ an hour to tune. Which I thought was very reasonable. I ended up only needing 3.5 hours. That was mostly because the Godspeed radiator keep temps very low. They say normal plan for 4-6 hours of tuning time. Also definately make the plans well in advance. Jerry only does a couple of cars a month.

Cueball, I have the same heatsoak issues you are having. Unforgently that is something they did not tune. It is an easy fix with the AIT correction. I simply need to sit down and do it. I will hopefully get that all worked out once I get back from the beach.

Hustler, I drove 10 hours and 600 miles to get tuned by them. I will say it was worth every penny to get it done. If you are seriously looking for a good tune Jerry knows what he is doing.

I will get Scott to host my msq file so you can all look at it. Hopefully that will be up later tonight.

this is what he ran a few months back on his sotck exhaust and about 13psi dropping to 9 or something:

While I wish you had more boost, the flatter torque between 3.5K and 5.5K has got to make the car feel better than before, where it dropped it like it was hot. PLus this is really impressive since Jerry's dyno should read less than the dynojet, and the number aren't that much lower at 3-4psi less!

NA6C-Guy 09-12-2008 02:51 AM

Im still not understanding the problems with spark at only 9psi... should be a good bit more room with stock ignition should there not? Good numbers though!

I will have to make the short trip to ATL when I get my BEGi and DIY MS, I feel safer with them doing it vs some shit shop doing it, or me guessing and giving it my best guess.

Drewkeen 09-12-2008 08:32 AM

I also am wondering now if there is some other issue with spark blow out. Aren't there people on here running 12-15psi with the stock ignition on a similar, or larger turbo?
