Gt2871r pump gas, skinny tires dragstrip fun
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d9d44718e6.jpgBest run of the day
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2e82b66bea.jpgWorst run missed a gear into 3rd https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...cc39b545bf.jpgFastest run of the day Turns out a Miata doesn't make the best drag racing car. Car is on 205 45 15s on 15x8 storms. weather was cold around 10*C Had launch control on for all of the runs except the one I missed a gear. Times ranged 2 tenths over the 6 good passes I made Car will get some slicks at some stage otherwise needs more power or some e85... or which ever comes first. I'm happy though the car is making around 270ish whp and is still going |
You just need to practice, and wear the right shoes for the job.

Nice runs man. People don't appreciate a low 13's pass until they've taken a car to the track.
If there's any extra weight you can pull out of the car I feel like that helps a lot. Spare, jack, tools, and passenger seat will take 5 minutes to dump ~100lbs, and in a car that light it's a significant difference. |
Nice runs!

As iam about to take mineto the drags in the next few months i also have a gt2871r but on E85 and a few other changes Basically ran it how it would be on the street, lowered the pressures down to around 19psi but found 22-23 psi was best for these tyres and the cold track. It must feel pretty sketchy dropping the sway bar I hadn't thought of that. Suspension is set for the street as well but far too low really. Hope it goes well for you interested in the results :) |

Thanks I am at the point where I don't think i'm going to improve much without slicks did you use launch control for your runs? Or just sheer driving ability? Either way seriously impressed with your car
The current trend in drag racing is to keep the sway bars and make other suspension adjustments. I tried racing without the front sway on the Miata, and I don't recommend it. I think the only advantage of removing it is weight reduction, but the car almost undrivable. In a high powered car, it is way too dangerous. |

No launch control, just the right combination and practice.

We should discuss this in your thread.

New wastegate and tires helped a lot.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4ff2c756e.jpeg Could you post your latest times along with the mods required in the thread I started labeled "post your 1/8th and 1/4 mile timeslips here please"? I was trying to compile a database of timeslips and mods for others to see what works and what doesn't at the dragstrip. Thanks |
