NB 2560 dyno @ 11psi

Dyno'd my car a local dyno day this weekend. Unfortunately they weren't able to get a tach signal off my COPS so I didn't get any torque readings. I made 213hp @ 11psi.

I dyno'd my old NA on the same dyno at 12psi and made 212hp, 188tq. I was able to overlay the dyno and made a good bit more midrange power in the NB and did a little better up top in the NA (better flowing exhaust). I'm guessing this car would have made something around 200tq given the better midrange numbers.

What I got of a dyno sheet:

Video:

I've been a little disappointed with the cars power since I turbo'd it. I feel like it should be making more power than it is. Given the cars I've raced and times I ran at the track it actually put down a little more than I was expecting though.

whats your complete build details?? exhaust, injectors, fmic setup, etc etc

pdexta 09-14-2010 10:12 PM

It's the slightly hacked up reminants of my BEGI S3 off my NA. Racing Beat exhaust (2.375", I know, I know). 550rc injectors and a Brain Megasquirt that probably needs more timing.

lol and you expected much more?

you got a small turbo with a very restrictive exhaust pushing not that much boost.
Not bad all things considered

Thanks. I wasn't expecting all that much more, I just felt like the car would be quicker than it is. I guess a lot of that has to do with going from a gutted NA to a stock weight NB.

Needs to be uncapped for sure.
12 psi with a 2560 on a dynojet, I would expect a bit more.

levnubhin 09-14-2010 11:12 PM

You need more flow.

take out the tampon and let it all out:D

aaronc7 09-14-2010 11:23 PM

yeah i would expect a lil more out of a 99 at 12 psi, but it sounds like you could really benefit from a turbo exhaust

I hope you meant free flowing.
Cause "turbo" mufflers are fail.
Straight through = win

p51hellfire 09-15-2010 12:30 AM

Dang Pdexta you still haven't replaced that exhaust??? didn't you have it on there even when it was NA???

webby459 09-15-2010 09:20 AM

iirc I made around 250whp at around 10-11psi on E85, dynapak. We tuned timing for mbt and didn't pull back any, though. It made a sizable difference in output.

buffon01 09-15-2010 10:05 AM

Straight pipe :D

I couldnt agree more! 3 inch from the turbo out and i bet youll make alot more power then what you just did. And if you really wanna be obnoxious like me, dont run a muffler or resonator :)

what the heck is a turbo muffler? lol I just mean an exhaust designed for turbo... aka 2.5 or 3" ideally and straight thru muffler of course, always used magnaflow myself....which is what I have being made at the moment from ARtech

vw_nut 09-15-2010 12:37 PM

Turbo muffler is traditionally a muffler with chambers that is not straight through. Look at a dynomax superturbo muffler. Straight through mufflers will flow much better, but usally are louder.

Braineack 09-15-2010 12:39 PM

that cause they use muffling for muffling, instead of chambers and sound wave cancellation. they are moar better.

those flowmaster chambers/walls are pretty weaksauce too. next time you're at disneyland, try to run fast through the zigzag ropes to the ride entrance and see if it's easier than just running straight through a tunnel with holes in it.

18psi 09-15-2010 02:07 PM

I tried that and Mickey Mouse told me to GTFO

leatherface24 09-15-2010 02:48 PM

You tried tried running right into mickys hole again huh
