Ran the 1/8th mile last night

only got one run in :( my frist time draging this car

here it is on 10 psi and bf goodrich sports at 25 psi

et 8.688
60 ft 2.119
mph 83.099

chirped a little off the line, started to spin a little thru first tried pedaling but couldnt get it to hook up. went into second and spun a little there too and got into 3rd and held it right to the end of the track at about 7 k.

going again next weekend and trying a few other things and ill try to get more runs in. going to try to lower the rear spring rate and shock stiffness in the rear and bring the rear wheels to around 0 degrees camber and maybe my torsen will be here by then and ill take out a little weight and bump the boost to 15... comon 8.3's :)

the announcer didnt know what car it was so he typed "viatta" on my slip... wtf haha

Not bad - My time on a T25 @ 13 PSI (also my first time dragging with LOTS of wheel slip):

RT 0.342
60 FT 2.208
330 FT 6.044
330 MPH 57.580
1/8 MILE 9.108
1/8 MPH 82.830

Why do these cars have such bad 60' times?

Great time though. :)

Is that a not so subtle way of saying that I suck at drag racing? <G> I'm sure that my 60' times would be much better if I dragged more but I just couldn't get the power to the ground when I was there. Usually I just spun the wheels for the first 3 seconds of the race.

lol, no thats not what I was saying. your not the only one with bad times. I'm not sure if that most guys just don't have the cars setup to drag...or don't use radials/slicks or what, but I haven't seen a guy post times with a sub 2 second 60' on here that I can remember. I'm just wondering if it is the car or if we just aren't good at drag racing on a whole because we are wired for corners.

rmcelwee 05-29-2007 02:59 PM

I would think my car (1900 pounds / 220 HP) would be great for dragging. I probably should let someone drive my car sometime to see what kind of time they could get. My car would also be a fantastic autox'er but I am not good at that either <G>. I run a few seconds slower than stock Miatas on the course.

miatamania 05-29-2007 03:39 PM

ES and CS tear it up...lol, usually are on par or faster than MOST of the CSP guys around here, not sure why, better drivers?

Maybe just the size doesn't allow for much weight distribution?

Al Hounos 05-29-2007 04:49 PM

miatas suck at drag racing because they have everything wrong, except for RWD. IRS, lots of rear camber, 6"wheels, usually have stiff suspension, etc. i really don't care what kind of times i run because it's all about how much you are willing to beat on the trans and rear end. i just check the mph to guess how much power im makin.

magnamx-5 05-30-2007 06:24 PM

I believe it is the drivers and suspensions we run this plus the puny frigin rubber and glass drivetrain make dragging hard for most. I like my cars to be able to launch thought so hopefully i will put down some decent times when mine is right.,

Why are all the 1/8th mile tracks in BFE? You'd think with all that cheap land, they could spring for a 1/4 mile.

cos people in rural areas don't have much money....

i'd rather run an 1/8th anyway, 4 seconds less WOT wear and tear.

magnamx-5 05-31-2007 12:17 PM

Cos it costs money and takes room to pave a 1/4mile and keep it prepped also a 1/4 mile track needs more shut down room etc. I can always go down to Bowling green to run the 1/4 so i dont mind to much 1/8 is the launch and into the top of 3rd if done rigth that is the most skillfull part of the race and shows the most about the driver.

Eh, Norwalk Raceway is in BFE and it's one of the best 1/4 tracks I've been to. Capitol Raceway is close to Wash DC and it sucks monkey balls. My point? I don't have one, just wondering.

As for the wear and tear, the most abuse will come at the tranny from launching and the 1-2 shift. You do do those in an 1/8th, don't you? :)

[QUOTE=magnamx-5;119011]and into the top of 3rd if done rightQUOTE]

I bounce off the rev limit in 3rd for the last 2 seconds of the 1/8th.

magnamx-5 06-01-2007 08:57 AM

My point exactly i work my 3rd gear redline to be close to 90 mph if you hit 90in the 1/8th you are doing something for sure. Well it turns out with my 4.1 i can hit 94 in third now  sweet.

miatamania - i was able to get off a 1.985 60 ft yesturday. thats barely sub 2.0's. i think with slicks you could look at 1.7's my guess depending on power

magnamx-5 06-02-2007 08:26 AM

dude if you hit 1.7's you will be knocking on 7's that is frigin quick dude.
