They do, but the F430 is 10-15 years old. It was available both as a manual and with the "F1" transmission, which is mechanically a standard manual transmission operated by solenoids on the shifter and the clutch line. The "F1" transmissions (so named because that's the way the transmissions in the Formula 1 cars work) are supposed to be really good on a track and really annoying in street driving.

If it's got an F1 gearbox it doesn't make much skill at all to repeat what the car mags did -- the computer does everything for you. That's why I was speculating it might be a manual.

No one who has driven the 1/4 mile would say this. A common misconception, it takes skill to put a car down the 1320. Straight line driving is not as easy as you might think, there's a lot to focus on and accomplish in a very short amount of time. There's no recovering from a mistake, if you mess up one aspect, you lost.

With a manual transmission or even a normal automatic, absolutely. There is a ton of skill involved in maximizing traction away from the start without bogging the motor or breaking stuff and in the manual there's skill involved in the 2-3, 3-4, etc shifts.
Have you driven a car with launch control, traction control, and a flappy paddle transmission? The computer does all that for you. You push a button when the light turns green, keep the wheel pointed straight, foot to the floor (computer will prevent wheel spin) and hit the brakes when you get to the end.
My previous mustang did all that. It still took a tonnn of effort to run a good time because traction control would either allow wheelspin or cut all power and kill your time. Unless the ferrari has a suuuuper advanced tc system (likely) where you can ride it out without losing power or traction
I don't know what the 17 AMG GTS I've driven had? But I know you better turn that **** off if you want to run as fast as the car mags suggest. Maybe the Ferrari has all that **** advanced enough? I doubt it was a manual in ST class.
