Had some friends going drag racing so I tagged along. Fairly stock 99, aem intake some exhaust. Boss frog roll/harness bar, ultrasheild rallysport, sport comp 2s at 34 psi cold, full interior etc. 67k 1/4 tank of gas no spare top down most the time (best run top was up) best run 15.601. How'd I do? 906ft air density temperature thingy. Submitted it to the main list as well

Went 2nd to 5th a few times (16sec ones)

Way too small, can't see any of em.

Just post up in text what your '60, et, and trap were on each

fixed the link so you can see it there.

best one was

2.141 60' (they said it was a virgin track and warned the experience people idk what difference it makes here...)
6.333 330
9.920 1/8th @ 67.48
12.990 1000
15.601 1/4 @84.19

Fastest trap speed was 86.49
that run was
.176rt
2.285 60
6.486 330
10.021 1/8 @70.75
13.092 1000
15.679 1/4 @86.49
and that run i lost to a mugen civic with headwork and a bunch of other crap... (waste of money) he had an r/t of .129 a 2.252 60' and lost by .6845 sec (his trap speed was 95.01)

That's really not bad for stock. About where I'd expect it to be. 'Grats

That is not too bad for a first effort. My first effort with a bone stock (and I mean straight from the dealer) was 16.00 with a 10.20 or so 1/8th ET. My car being a 95. Your 99 will be faster.

My car picked up quite a bit with the regular bolt ons and lots of practice.

I think you could get the car to about the 15.30s or maybe faster in the near stock configuration with some tweaking of what you have and some practice.

I have a few tried and trued tricks if you want to go a little faster the next time you go. Just ask.

if you're looking to go faster n/a /\ this guy can definitely help you out.

I think Troy has one of the fastest n/a miatas on here

TBH i'm mainly looking at doing timed stuff fairly stock and not looking to really mod this one. I'm sure if I could have been faster if I had tweaked my tire pressure and been able to not baby that 2-3 shift (seriously took about half a second on getting it in so i wouldn't spend a second getting it out of fifth and back in third (motor mounts i've heard solves this)

Though I can't say I plan on taking it to the strip much/again I'd love to hear your advice/critique,

Here are a few preperations you should do to get the most out of your car in its stock configuration: Some preperations will gain more than others, and each will be hardly noticable by themselves. When you combine them all together, you will get noticable gains in ET and MPH, as well as the car feeling faster.

Up your timing. I had the best results with 16 or 17 degrees of initial timing. You want to do some testing to see what gives you the best results. Do this on the track, not the dyno. Once it stops going faster as you bring the timing up, back it down one degree.

Pump your front tires up hard. I usually pumped them 2-5 lbs higher then the max stated on the tire.

On a lower hp car, you may find the car goes faster with your rear tires pumped up harder than you would normally run, not as hard as the fronts. This goes against the norm, but a stock miata has so little power, that you actually get more from less rolling resistance than more traction. It can also make it easier to control the amount of wheel spin to make the car move forward sooner. This depends on track conditions. If you find yourself bogging, keep raising the tire pressure.

You will need to practice your launches at a particular tire pressure. Do not assume that if the car blows the tires away that the pressure is not right. You have to learn how to modulate the clutch and throttle.

When you launch the car, come out at a high rpm. Release the clutch and roll the throttle. Practice practice practice.

Change your tranny oil to the redline MTL. You will be able to shift faster. I shifted with throttle to the floor. Do you have a 5 speed or 6 speed? I made hundreds of passes in my lower hp car and have not broken a tranny. It is up to you if you think you should do this. I have a 5 speed.

When I went to the track I always pulled my A/C belt. I had a measurable improvement with this mod, and it takes five minutes to take off and put back on.

I always pulled my spare tire and jack out. Sometimes I pulled the passenger seat. It makes a measurable difference. It is just a few minutes work.

I usually pulled the air filter out at the track. I remember it making a small difference. Depends on what you have now. Try it to see if it works.

These are the first things I did to my bone stock car. Some of it is a bit of work, but is worth it when you see a real gain.

Nice times, seems like a pretty good run, maybe even a little quicker than I would have guessed.

I ran a bolton '99 miata w/ a 75 shot in my girlfriend's RSX a while back. We ran with and without him spraying. It's amazing what a little juice does (compare run 1 and 3). The RSX runs 14.8@95, for reference.

Honestly, that's quicker than I'd of expected. I think I saw your vid on reddit this morning ;)
