anyone running EMU on a stock car?
I am wondering since i have the damn thing working now, if anyone is running the emu on stock car? I would like a bit more power out of it but am not sure which maps to change. Can anyone provide maps for a 1.8 motor in stock condition. since i put in the EMU it feels bit slower on Low RPMs. I am just learning about the EMU and could use any help possible. Thanks

has anyone run the EMU on a stock motor at any point? if so, did anyone else feel less power in lower RPM?

I did for several days since I installed the EMU prior to the turbo. Simply left all the maps at zero. Didn't detect any change in performance good or bad.

what year is your car?

Don't want to sound too negative, but if your tuning the EMU yourself then you really need to sort out your own maps.
On my car in exactly the same setup i have 2 different maps for summer and winter. The chances of someone elses map working efficiently on your car is almost nil. Do you have wideband fitted? If so it's even easier just activate Autotune, Input your desired AFR's in the Autotune map Drive for 15 mins using the whole rev range. Deactivate Autotune and your done. If you don't have Wideband and you plan on tuning your car yourself then either buy a Wideband O2 as soon as you can, or sell your EMU as without a gauge on your AFR's it's virtually useless as a tuning tool. If you plan on getting your tuner to tune the EMU, then i'd wait till everything is installed, otherwise it might start getting expensive in Dyno sessions. Cheers Mark |
he is not online often, but we are building together...so ill butt in if no one minds...he doesnt, he's a cool guy
the car is an '01 and it will get a WB very soon, not sure if he is going with AEM or LC1, not sure what he ordered...here is whats going on, he just got the car running with EMU thanks to here, but it feels slower in the lower RPM range (1500-2200 i think) so until he gets the WB, is there a way he could fix this or should he just wait to get the WB and then fix it? |
If the maps are zero'd as they should be then theres no difference in performance.
A 0 in the EMU means that it's not adding or subtracting anything from the stock ECU config. If you've set up the config car/engine type it should be exactly the same. Cheers Mark |
thanks for your input, we'll double check the confi types and hope it was a simple mistake...thanks again

cool deal, i will check everything again, it seams that is the only way to go. do appreciate all the input from you guys. thanks

01's seem bloody strange with EMU's.
There's bin some that no matter what they do they can't get em to run right. Others have no problems. I believe the general consensus was that the latter cars various sensors and electronics were more sensative to the various voltage drops caused by fitting a EMU between them. As i say check your using the correct engine code and if it's zero'd out it should be fine. |
