Yes, if the CKP/CMP wires are connected, and the offset is correctly entered.

The sensors are connected but the option to show ignition timing is greyed out.

I dont have anywhere to host the file...can i email it to you?

edit: Ok i got it to atleast show up when i set it up as an NA BP-ZE instead of an NB but the timing shows up as ~4* at idle and then it looks like the signal is dropping out and showing up as about -65*.

Hey Joe,

ive can you tell me what the abreviations CKP & CMP are, im looking at my "harness diagram (in the book) & cant find what they are, or even tell me what pin numbers they are in what conector??? i have the air & water p&p loom, should that already be connected & if so do i need to set the program up to show the true reading or should it do it on its own?

update, i went back to my logger & the timing logger is greyed out so i dont have access to selecting / viewing it, can anyone tell me how i can access it?

CKP and CMP are the Crank Angle and Cam Angle pulses. Wires 33 and 39 on the EMU. At the vehicle they differ somewhat by year. NAs are easy- the CAS at the back of the head has both signals.

Not sure why your ignition timing box is grayed out. Mine's clear, though I don't have the wires hooked up.

In the Vehicle tab of Parameters, the offset angle is used to make the displayed ignition angle match the actual ignition angle. Someone who has actually bothered to hook this up could probably tell you the general range of values expected here.

Well it seems the EMU has a problem reading the timing off the magnetic crank/cam signals the NBs use...So later on today im gonna install the distributor off my old escort gt engine and splice that into just the emu and see if it'll atleast be able to log timing with that.

Is the EMU able to change timing without those signals?

Yes. It will advance or retard the timing with nothing more than an RPM wire and the two coil driver lines. The CAS connection seems only to be necessary for absolute ignition logging, or for converting from wasted-spark to four discrete outputs.
