So exactly what do I need parts wise to install an EMU in a 2000 JRSC car?

Default So exactly what do I need parts wise to install an EMU in a 2000 JRSC car?

I'm fed up with the Powercard I have. my car bucks and bogs, hessitates and everything else under the sun, especially when cold. When the AC is on the car is almost undriveable. It runs so rich that it fouls O2 sensors and Cats on a regular basis. It's time to put a serious ECU setup in that runs in parallel as Arizona simply pulls OBDII codes for emission checks here so I can't go stand alone.
I looked into the MS systems, forget that, I don't need to construct an electronic erector set. It's just too many little connections that could be a failure point in the future. I want a 100% fully assembled ECU right out of the box, something I just hook up and tune, period.
The EMU looks like the ticket for me. I understand that I will need a boomslang harness and an Innovative Wideband O2 sensor as well. The stock injectors are supposed to be good to 200 RWHP so I'm not worried about that issue. Is there anything else I will need to buy?
The install will be done at Mike's Place here in phoenix, any guess for total time to physically wire in the EMU so i can at least attempt to estimate install cost?
I already talked with Arizona dyno Chip and they have plenty of experience tuning the EMU and said 2 hours total for dyno tuning and it will be perfect.

So now I'm looking for a total project cost estimate, I'd appreciate any input from you guys, thanks.

Simple answer: If you want a turn-key emissions compliant ECU give Bell Engineering or Flyin' Miata a call.

I have, both tried pushing stand alone units or substandard parallel units.
I guess I should add that I am an ASE Certified Factory trained BMW tech as well, and I know substandard products when I see them. The Hydra and Link aren't for me, old tech. And the MS is just a breakdown looking to happen, way too many parts to add to customize it to each users needs and all it takes is one bad connection and I'm stranded.
I have already decided on the greddy EMU and neither company offers it. I wish they did honestly, I could just do a 1 stop shop and get what I needed.
I'm not looking for turnkey, just something that only needs to be connected and then dyno tuned. Something emmisions compliant and dependable.

BTW your quote on appropriate power levels in your sig is spot on LMAO!

Got it. Don't know anything about the EMU so I'll bow out of this one.

BTW you will get opinions to the contrary about MS unreliability here. I am running MS in parallel in my '99 and it is a daily driver. No problems for a year, and I don't think twice about it unless I am tuning. Most here will agree. Someone else built it (and the adapter harness) so it was plug, tune, and play for the most part.

I know lots of people who feel the same way and have identical experiences as you with the MS. But over my years of being a tech I have seen the dumbest little things just kill a car on the side of the road. All of the small resistors and other items that need to be soldered to the boards on the MS is a lot of possible trouble, and the crazy part is, it doesn't have to be made like that anymore, all of it can be programmed into a system and done without solid state components which are much more highly prone to failure, they need to jointhe technology revolution of 1986 LOL. The system does seem to work but my Miata is the slow car, the daily driver and has to work everyday. That being the case I just have a higher comfort level going with the EMU and carrying a laptop in case of any problems. It's just a personal preference that gives me more peace of mind.

I had one, and it ran great, but it just wouldn't control my RX7 injectors. I would suggest getting the Greddy MAP sensor and a wideband.

I also have my setup for sale in the classifieds section, and it would be completely plug and play for you.

I took a look but it's too pricey for me. Plus I am going to try a few little tricks to see if I can solve my drive-ability issues first. If I can my method of attack may be different...
