EMB and 460cc injectors: why it should work

In most of the search on the max injector size for the EMB the consensus is 330cc for the 1.6L because of the 1.5x correction limit. Whenever someone posts that they got their 460cc working it gets shot down pretty quickly.

Well elderc messaged me how he got his 460cc and it makes sense. What he did was set the base injector size to 305cc and the new injecto size to 460cc. Since the stock ECU can handle the 305cc (albiet a little rich unless you tune the AFM) I don't see why it wouldn't work.

What do you guys think?

Sounds great. I'm glad he stepped up and made it work correctly.

Let's see some datalogs including WBO2.

the problem your going to face is the mapping of the stock ecu which ignores airflow such as:

Acelleration enrichment
decel cutoff/cut in parameters etc etc etc

you could get bigger injectors to work properly by simply using a different timing crystal in the ECU. For instance changing the 4Mhz crystal for a 4.4Mhz or 4.8Mhz crystal to get a 10 and 20% leaning of the base fuelling values regardless of airflow readings. (this will also advance your timing too by an unkown amount) maybe around 2-4 degrees.

this will also remove your rev limit too.

ive been thinking about changing my crystal to a 4.4 to lean out my base by 10% to get consistent hot starts at altitude with my "330" injectors that actually flowed 385cc.
