EMB setup Q

I will be installing a new EMB on my 99 miata this weekend, I bought a boomslang pnp to make the install smooth and have installed the 1k resistor.I also bought the Support tool and software, My question is do I set the 5 Air Flow adj. as per instructions or do I leave them at zero and adjust them through the software ? I'am still using th stock 0/2 so I know my range is limited.
Thanks

My Setup:
Turbo TB2531 49/48
intercooler
FM 02 clamp
298cc Mer. Capri injectors p/n 195500 1300

Leave the 5 airflow adjustments at zero and set everything except the inside potentiometers with the support tool.

I installed mine with the boomslang harness. After plugging the harness in the ECU wich is located left and over the clutch pedal, i routed the harness through the vent that goes through the middle console. Remember to zip tie the harness so that is don't move. I attached my emb to the back side of the inner wall of the glove compartement using some self adhesive velcro strips (about 1,2" wide). Very stealthy, and you can just let the cable for the programming tool stay attached and lay in the glovebox. The velcro is strong and I need to bend the emb loose with a screwdriver to remove it, so it will stay in place. Still very easy and fast removal though. For the map sensor, there is a hole through the firewall right in the passenger side corner of the engine bay. This hole is covered with a rubber lid, wich is easy to take off. On the inside of this hole however, it is covered with the cars insulation mat, a small knife will take care of that. It is harder to cut through than you will think, but keep getting at it. To get the cable and contact through the fairly tight hole i cut a small hose (washer fluid hose) down its length and put the connector in it, I then wrapped it with electrical tape to protect it and pulled it through the hole.

Very! easy install with the boomslang harness.

Sentic,
Are you using your EMB in conjuction with a 0/2 clamp or is one not needed ? I have a 0/2 clamp and did't know weather or not I still have to use it. Also could you post your timing and fuel maps ?

Thanks

Unless you are using an Autotune(which includes an internal O2 Clamp), you should use an O2 clamp with the EMB

Thanks Olderguy,
I have a FM 02 clamp on my car now and it works fine, I emailed FM and asked them should I change the wiring because I'am using a boomslang pnp which would now cause the 02 clamp signal to be altered before it goes into the EMB ( wired as it is now) they told me they had no experience using a EMB with a 02 clamp and just do what the guys on miataturbo.net recommend. So I guess the real question is should I wire the 02 clamp in before or after the EMB or does it matter ?
Thanks

I m also planning on putting the emb with boomslang in my '99. Should i consider
change the jumpers or should i set it up like the manual shows?

Last time i connected my emb with boomslang i fried my coils...

Shouldn't matter, unless somehow you are using the O2 sensor connected to the EMB.

I'm currently n/a, so i don't have a boost clamp wired in now. From what I've read about it, i'm planning to get one though.

EMB install update

I installed my EMB this week on my 99, the Boomslang pnp made it a breeze !
30 min from start to start-up, (Thanks Older Guy for the information on my 0/2 clamp placement I left it hooked up the way I had it and it works fine)
I did the cps mod a few years ago setting my base timing at 12* I'am pulling 1* of timing around 4,100 and 2* at 5,000 3* at 5,500 so far no pinging. I did this on a 80* day here in Va. Beach as warmer is on its way. I'am going to take the car to the dyno in a few weeks to get the A/F set . Thanks again for the information.:)
