Larger injectors
I have an emanage blue along with a JR supercharger on my Mk1 1.8 MX5. If I fit larger injectors to deal with the extra fuel I need when upping the boost. Will the factory ECU be able to cope with them? Or will I need to build a map for when I'm not boosting?

you should be able to use injector lag time for this.

I'm not sure what you mean? Is that where you change the setting in Emanage tools from the stock injector size to the new injector size?

i would only tune in boosted cells. |
Thanks.:)

You got a setting called injector correction, that's what you use. Just enter the OEM value and the size of yourr new injectors and the EMB adjusts the injector spray time to the right ammount. |
I've just finished fitting the supra injectors and my car wont idle properly, its like a shitting dog, it keeps shaking and stuttering before finally stalling.
I managed to take it for a quick run and the data log shows it running dangerously lean. The injectors are the supra green tops and were ultrasonically cleaned and this is the first time I've had them in. |
high or low impendence?
|
High impedance. I've taken them back out and replaced them with my old injectors, the weird thing is, that I had to change the injector correction over from 320 to 265 in order to get it to idle properly.
Is there a way to reset the idle correction values? I have tried putting zero's in both boxes, but it still idles badly. |
I seemed to have found the problem with regards to the lean running, and here is the AFR's I am seeing when data logging.
The problem I have now is getting my car to idel with the larger injectors. I set the injector correction values in Emanage tools but my car will not idle properly, it kept shaking and stuttering before finally stalling. |
Did you try looking in the sticky for maps? Maybe there is a simmilar setup you can get help from. I had the EMU and obviously not too much experience in emb
|
I've had a look at a few maps on here, but cant work out how they get a decent idle.

After you enter the different injector sizes, your car should idle just as it did before. Back when I had EMB and swapped in 330cc injectors, it started right up and and required no tuning. There are no provisions for idle control in the EMB.
Your datalog looks normal, except that you want 11.8ish AFR for 8psi. You're dangerously lean. Also, make sure you're using the injector table and not the airflow adjust. Use the greddy software (not the tools) and check your injector duty cycles. Are you seeing normal values? Should be damn near 1% at idle. I have a feeling that something else is causing your problem, be it a vacuum leak, bad map sensor, etc. How much reading have you done on the emanage? I know the manuals suck, but from your posts it looks like you need to do some more research. This forum http://diytuning.com/ has a much better emanage following and should have all the documentation you need. Edit: More is coming back to me. You also need an 02 clamp if you don't have one. PM or email olderguy on here for one. It's a simple circuit activated by a pressure switch that will tell the stock ecu it's seeing stoich when under boost. This will allow you to basically add on fuel to the stock ecu's tune (you'll have to add a good bit) without having to fight it. |
Thanks for the reply. I have an Olderguy O2 clamp and all my tuning is done using a 3 bar map sensor and the injector map. I'll take a look and double check for vacuum leaks.
