Maybe this is my new direction?

I have been running megasquirt in 3 different configurations for the past 2 years. I am currently running MS2 in standalone, it works pretty well, but I just feel the need to simplify things. I'm inquiring about a setup that runs stock sensors, but simply controls fuel and timing. I'll let the stock ECU control idle, and alternator. I read a little bit that the Greddy EMB will run a setup like I want. I have an old parallel harness that I could use for this, but would I really be happy? I just want smooth idle, good afr's, and really simple tuning. Any tips and suggestions are welcome.

Stock ecu won't control bigger injectors. Greddy emb is old as hell. It works, but its very limited, much like the other older piggybacks/ecu's like the link, xede, etc.

You have to pay to play.

If you don't want to tinker around and want a solid running car you have to shell out for a good ecu (adaptronic, diypnp, hydra, etc) and then pay someone to set everything up and tune it for you.

Even then a true standalone EMS usually requires a touch up here and there with weather changes/etc. To make it run flawless year round.

I would go with a EMU if you want to switch. The autotune is simple. I have a Bloomslang Harness for a 01 if you are interested you can make it fit. also I have a O2 Clamp built by Joe here which you will need to keep the stock ECU form fighting your EMU/EMB when it comes to fueling. you can find EMU on craigslist for cheap sold my not too long ago.

My ms2 runs great. As far as year round tuning, this is where it lacks. I can't say I blame the MS, it's most likely my settings. A computer or machine can only do what it's programmed to do. As far as idle, same settings story. If I plug in my stock ecu, the car runs fine, plug in ms and it idles warm at like 1300 rpm. I'm certain it has to do with the ms - idle valve frequency compatibility. I just really like my megasquirt and I have a lot invested in it. I used to just want something that works, now I want something that is really perfect. Call me picky, but that's just how I do things.
