Default Uh... Oops

I was pruning threads and accidently whacked this forum.
I'll see if I can restore from backup... but my last backup is awhile ago

The important stuff should be in the stickied threads and archives anyway.

Good luck with the restore from the last backup.
yeah the backup is so old I'm kind of not going to bother... not to mention I'm not exactly sure how to restore just the ONE subforum

they happen nightly now and FTP to a backup server. Attachments are moved back into the mysql DB since size isn't a concern and they're also backed up.

Regarding attachments... Since they're mostly pictures, a quick tutorial on how to use external image hosts and then attach the images inline using the button or the [IMG] and [/IMG] tags might not be a bad idea. Assuming anyone bothers to read said tutorial...

Did I just volunteer myself?

1- Go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and Sign Up for an account. Yes, the site is poorly organized and hard to use. Since it is also free, I assume that this is to discourage people from actually using it. Also, they will probably sell your email address to spammers, so use an email address you don't care about. Personally, I have one dedicated Hotmail account that I use for nothing but online registrations. If you already have an account at a better imagehosting service, use that instead. Go ahead, you won't hurt our feelings. Seriously. Imageshack doesn't need your stinking pictures anyway.

2- Upload your image to the host.

3a- After uploading, select and copy the text in the "Hotlink for forums (1)" box, and paste it into your message. It will look something like this:
[url=http://imageshack.us][IMG]http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/9977/coillk1.jpg[/IMG][/url]
Feel free to remove the "Shot at..." BS at the end, or replace it with useful information.

If you don't want it to be a click-through image, then you can strip it down to just the following:
[IMG]http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/9977/coillk1.jpg[/IMG]
3b- Or, if you know the URL of the image you wish to attach, just click the button at the top of the message edit window, and paste the URL into the popup box.

That's it. You have just attached a picture to your message in a way that occupies no space on our server, and consumes no bandwidth on our connection.
