Since the first thing you are going to do is purchase proper engine management like a megasquirt, you know, just like you read about in the FAQ while you were studying examples of grammar that didn't look like it was written by the 12 year old offspring of a meth addicted hooker to better yourself as a person.

For what it's worth, insofar as comparing the "Miata crowd" to the "Honda crowd", it's difficult to say that one is better or worse as a blanket statement. We (the "Miata crowd") are unquestionably more manly, more virile, more literate, more well-educated, taller, more financially successful, more knowledgeable about good beer, more secure in our sexuality, and (on a per-capita basis) more likely to be awarded a Nobel Prize in physics or chemistry than your average Honda owner. We are not, as a broad generalization, more mature. :D |

I'm never washing that internet again :giggle: For the record, I really *really* don't like engaging in the grammar nazi-ism that I often do. To be perfectly honest, I find it a bit..."played out" as the hip kids seem to say. I do it to better the new members. Seriously, I do. When I was a kid and was afraid of baseballs, do you know what my dad did? He made me stand up against a tree, no glove, and THREW MOTHERFUCKING BASEBALLS AT ME. Not to injure me (he didn't huck them at me full speed or anything), but to both 1) toughen me up, and 2) improve me so that I would stand there and try to catch the ball instead of diving out of the way like a pussy. I know (or at least hope) that the majority of people that post on this forum and don't put even a rudimentary effort into how they type aren't retarded, I just want them to TRY. TRY to help me help you. I really want to see this community succeed with new members and ideas. But if you cant even take the time to spellcheck or put a complete idea into writing, I can't take the time to not shit in your thread and provide you with a helpful answer. |
OP don't listen to these assholes, just go pick up an ecu from any modern fuel injected crotch rocket and have a 18,000rpm redline then you can pwnt urrybody s0n
|
I wonder if it's the same shitty troll.
|
I think he's referring to the "chipped" stock ecus. Swap in a different crystal and supposedly you could raise the rev limit. No point now since MS can be had for so cheap, and then you also get rid of the AFM and related minutia.
Also, from what I remember, the mod is not that reliable. The same crystal in different ECUs would produce different rev limits. |
^^^ thanks for the infor curly...
guess i got rip... PLEASE DELETE THE POST!!! thank you |
Don't get me wrong, it works. And it's cheap. If the seller advertised 8k redline, I'm hoping it was actually tested. However its not okay to run our engines that high. If you've built your engine, that's a different story. But by the time you buy the proper cams, do the head work so it flows, header, and exhaust, I would hope you have the $400ish to buy a MS. Plus all those mods don't work too well with the constriction of the AFM.
|
i also got the 86-88 rx7 afm
does that do anything? |
It's pnp if you delete the stock airbox, and it has a bigger throat so it supposedly lets more air in. Good for something like 2hp above 5.5kish rpms. Again, you'd still need extensive head work, cams, header, and exhaust to make the 8k usable and reliable.

FFS, I'm going to turn you upside down and break your silver fucking spoon over your goddamn balls.
http://www.solomiata.com/airflowmtr.html Do this shit again, and you're going to regret it. |

ok, another piece of crap i bought...
i think i should just quit... anyone want to buy 1.6l Turbo manifold, downpipe, and TD05-16G (sm) turbocharger??? let me know i am willing to ship... |
Is that bigger or smaller than my TD04? If it's a little smaller then don't expect high numbers, but don't "run away from it like the plague". If it's a little bigger, then no worries, my TD04 is already considered a little small.
I've seen decent numbers from crappier setups OP, you just need to take some time to figure it out. With what you have you'd just need to fab up an intercooler to make it work. Only issue I see is that the ebay manifold might crack, although you said you bought an FM3 unit? And of course the 10-12psi is a little high for a AFPR. You can either turn the boost down or get a MegaSquirt, but in that case you need bigger injectors for 10-12 psi. |
thanks again curly.... (with all the stuff i got.. what else am i missing to make it work? and how much more money do i need?)
(also there's a guy selling a MSM intercooler... will that work with my turbro setup??) i got the TD05 (sm) 16.... something like that.. but i decide to sell all the stuff i got for the turbo i also got the begi afpr and the supra injectors... and i already post it on sale... thanks for your infor... |
You can always retract your for sale thread, or take out the bits you wanna save. From what you have, you're fine. I'd highly recommend a AFR gauge. You don't even have to plumb in the fuel pressure gauge, although once you have the AFR gauge, if you can't get it to read anything but lean, the pressure gauge can tell you if its the pump that's the problem.
So, install everything you have and: 0. AEM wideband - $240 1. turn your timing down to 8* - free 2. plumb the turbo over to the throttle body - free with some ingenuity. 3. drill/tap pan for oil drain - ~$50 (don't use hose barbs and rubber hose) 4. oil feed line - $25 After that, you can intercooler when you have the time/money, just keep a super close eye on afr. Put zip ties around the accordion section of the stock intake to keep it from ballooning. After that, MS with bigger injectors, and you'll be set. |
hey curly,
AEM wideband.. this is it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...KB1FQNB5S9Y21P oil feed line... this is it: http://www.godspeednet.com/servlet/t...ED-LINE/Detail so, running at 7-8 psi... i dont need the intercooler for now?? thanks |
more like 5-6.
|
so, if 5-6 psi...
how much more HP am i looking at? and will it be running without any problem? thanks |
More or less, yes. It will tend to heat soak the intake more, and obviously that's not quite as safe and robbing you of horsepower. This is another reason you'll want the wideband, and yes that's the correct one you linked, good deal.
I'm not real sure about the oil feed, I don't think it's right. |
now, if i get these stuff:
5. starion intercooler $50 6. jim b's intercooler pipes $50 will it make it better? and are those good stuff? and good prices? and do i still need the wideband... or i will always need the wideband no matter what... i have to buy it?? |
You have to buy it. Even for NA MS tuning.
|
how about the intercooler and pipes...
are those any good? |
Search, very common question. When did jimB become typable?
|
Most of the questions you're asking could have easily been covered if you searched. Don't be lazy.
|
Ok guys. Thanks for the help. Time to do some searching.
