AEM vs. MSPNP

this really isnt a versus thread but i have some questions concerning them

my original plan was to run a MSPNP
but for an extra $300 i can get the AEM

it says the aem is PNP but i always thought it was a full wire in system

is there any real reason i should go with the aem over the ms or should i stick with my ms plan?

thanks

The AEM requires wiring in of the AIT sensor, same as the MSPNP. If you don't have a local tuner who is good with AEM, then go with the MS. There are tons of people on this forum using it, and can help you tune it.

I have to disagree with Ray. I originally installed an MS in my car. Took it off and I have been running an AEM for the last 8 months. Granted, the AEM is much more difficult to tune if you have no clue about the subject. It took me a long, long time to get my car running well but after all the issues; I couldn't be more pleased with it.

For $300 extra I would buy the AEM and never look back. What year is your car?

FWIW, the 1710 is for early NAs up until 95 and the 1720 is PNP for 96/97.

If you think you're not going to have the time to learn about how to use the AEM, maybe you should consider the Adaptronic. I would buy an Adaptronic any day over an MS.

What? Someone on this forum who prefers AEM over MS? I thought I was the only one. I just didn't want to get into that argument AGAIN. But if you don't know how to tune, the support for MS on this forum makes it doable, whereas the AEM really doesn't have much support here.

So, yes, if you have the time to research how to tune using the AEM, it is the better option.

I have no experience on Adaptronic, so no opinion there.

Ok so here's the dilemma, ill have about a week to assemble my car and get it running. Then another week to work out any bugs. I won't be doing the original tune but I'm sure ill tweak it later down the road.. I think the tuners up here might know the aem better. Ill call around to find out b4 I order one. Thanks for the info
