AFR is completely off, and very ciolent

I have downloaded a base map from speedy loader but my car is running really violent, especially when coming off the throttle.
I have a wideband sensor, which is reading completely different to my target AFR. I’m new to tuning so go easy on me 😂

Have you done any research on how to tune? Have you tried adjusting anything like the VE table?

Nobody's going to want to help you if you give no information. If you want other people to put in effort to try to help you, put in some effort yourself to learn a bit first.

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 12:32 PM

I have spent the best part of 15 hours learning to tune so far, and everything i do is seemingly having no effect. Sorry if i don’t know everything yet, which is (believe it or not) why i posted here

SimBa 03-05-2023 12:49 PM

I'm just saying you should probably list the things you've tried. A photo of half a laptop screen with no data isn't going to allow anyone to help you even if they want to.
What have you tried so far to fix the issues?

Also, generally if you're asking ECU questions it's usually a good idea to post your tune file and a datalog.

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 12:58 PM

i’ll try to get those files on here, but i think the main issue is my AFR. I’ve tuned my afr table, but my actual afr numbers look like they are completely ignoring it.

Tune. Datalog.

ive been tuning for almost 15 years, still feel like a novice sometime. But as said previously, picture of half a laptop screen isn’t any help.

afr table is only the target. VE table still needs to be tuned to match those targets, along with dozens of other settings.

I've found my tune and some catalogs, had to log into my account on my laptop.

One of the datalogs is over a normal drive, and the first one is just revving in neutral.

Do you have a VTPS wired? Is this a 1.6? Have you calibrated the TPS? Does the MAP read around 100 when engine off, and 30s when engine idling?

SimBa 03-05-2023 02:19 PM

I would start researching how to tune the VE table. AFR targets are just targets, but you need to tune the VE table so the proper amount of fuel is being used to actually hit those targets.

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 02:27 PM

Yeh I know how to tune the VE table but I assume it would be difficult to tune all parts of it on the road

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 02:30 PM

Im not sure if I have a VTPS, sounds like it could be a possibility though. I bought the car not long ago so I'll have to ask previous owner. Yes, its a 1.6 and the TPS is calibrated. I couldn't tell you what the MAP is when the engine is off, but its between 27-30 when idling.

SimBa 03-05-2023 02:31 PM

Are you using the unmodified ve table that came with the base tune then?

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 02:44 PM

I am right now yes.

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 03:04 PM

Ignore my other reply, it's very similar but I put it through VE analyse on MegaLogViewer. Made it run a bit better but still jittery

DNMakinson 03-05-2023 03:16 PM

It appears you are in Great Britain, in which case, 1.6 is not descriptive enough. Give us a feel for what car you have... NA / NB, what year, etc.

If your TPS is calibrated, and, if when you press it slowly, the TPS signal in Tuner Studio moves linearly from "0" to "100", then you have a VTPS. TPS can show in TS by a gauge you add, or in Megalog Viewer the annunciators in the bottom section, or a trace you add to a graph.

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 03:25 PM

Its a 1990 NA 1.6. The TPS goes from 100-0? If I didn't have a VTPS would this happen but in increments?

curly 03-05-2023 03:35 PM

Can you take a picture of your throttle body? Mainly the black thing on the right?

mx5.addict 03-05-2023 04:06 PM

not for the next few days. may be able to on Wednesday but that's not a definite.

Panici 03-06-2023 07:00 AM

Do you have the "Incorporate AFR Table" or similar turned on in the fueling?
If not then the fuel calcs will completely ignore your AFR table and just use the VE table.

If you turn on that option then the VE table will be closer to a "true" measure of volumetric efficiency.
