Anyone know how to bypass the immobilizer circuit?
I've got a 2003 tub that I am rebuilding. I have a 2001 ECU, and no immobilizer. I will likely be going with Adaptronic or an MS2/3 with DIY's VVT box in the future, but trying to find a cheap option to get the car running now. Does anyone know of a way to get the 01 ECU to work without an immobilizer?

I don't know how "deep" the immobilizer is coded into the ECU, but I think it's just a fuel pump killer. So you possibly could control the fuel pump externally of the ECU, and then take a drive. But this is only a WAG.
FWIW, the immobilizer system is comprised of the ECU, immobilizer box, and ignition switch. These things need to be kept together. |
That's a good place to start, thanks Ben. Should be easy enough to hotwire the pump to check. And are you sure the switch has to be paired w/ the ECU/ immobilizer? From my researching on m.net, it sounded like you could add the ecu/immobilizer pair to another car, but would require some vaseline and a trip to the Mazda dealer.

i have the same issue did you find an answer for this???
thanks Kris. |
Nope, I'm 125 miles from the car, haven't messed with it. I was going to try hard-wiring the fuel pump to see if that would work, then wire it up to a relay connected to the ignition if that is the case. I still have to install the engine, etc. in the car though. It will be a couple months before I get to it.
