Bipes settings help
hello,
I just wondered if there is a winter setting for the bipes, as it seems to come on boost really quickly between 3 and 4k rpm where WOT can not be used. Over 5k to the limiter its perfectly fine. Just notice that it pulls around 6psi between 3 - 4k rpm, back off and hold it to about 5psi and its fine and continues to pull I have changed plugs and leads and still no different The current settings on my bipes is Switch 1 = Open Switch 2 = Closed Switch 3 = Open Switch 4 = Open Switch 5 = Closed Switch 6 = Open Switch 7 = Closed Switch 8 = Closed Switch 9 = Open Switch 10 = Open So settings are 1.6 Full AFM Retard 5 degrees 1 Degree retard for each 20c or 30 degrees f Start retard at 3000 full retard at 4000 rpm Light on the unit displays Retard The car is NA 1.6, with the begi s kit, stg1 intercooler, afpr and the bipes. This has only started since the colder weather we are having in england, so didn't know whether I need to turn down the boost or change maps any help is appreciated |

but there are various settings for the temperature for the bipes which I presume determines when the bipes retards the ignition, as the colder air is denser then in theory there is more boost being produced
what I don't understand is how the settings on the bipes work as you can start retarding the ignition earlier in the rev range, by getting it to come in earlier and possibly a temperature setting change may help in the colder months. also what I don't understand is there doesn't appear to be a boost controller so I would expect it to be producing more boost but it doesn't ever go over 6psi, which leads me to think the bipes has something to do with it I could have got the complete wrong end of the stick, but just trying to figure out what the problem is and it seems a little strange I get the problem when the bipes is set to retard at 3k and full retard is at 4k - the exact rev range I can't use full throttle |
