EBC at limit of MAP sensor

Anyone have experience tuning EBC close to MAP sensor limit? How does EBC respond if initial overshoot is above MAP limit? If you set the EBC at MAP limit will it think that it is holding boost appropriately because the MAP value will eventually become constant?

Someone remind me what the standard MAP sensor limit is in PSI. Edit: 22.5 psi

I guess my fear is that the EBC control won't respond aggressively enough. If I set the limit for 22 psi, and it overshoots by 5psi, the ECU is only going to see a .5psi overshoot. I am assuming that there is a response difference between a 5 psi overshoot and a .5psi overshoot. Then again, I guess I can just tune for no initial overshoot, probably at the cost of spool.

yeah it's going to get confusededed.

Do you think it is best to tune for no initial overshoot, or back off on the closed loop target? If the latter, do you know how the algorithm works and what kpa delta defines the most aggressive response?

Ideally I'd set my buffer to a MAP limit - delta that would still allow the most aggressive response from the EBC/MS.

Why not put a higher reading MAP sensor in?

Braineack 03-18-2011 11:48 AM

Drop in the MPX5700AP. good for 0 - 700 kPa. $14.

That's the plan, but I don't ahve a map sensor on hand. The weather is nice and I want to play with ebc tuning. Increasing boost threw off the tune a little.

Perfect, where do I buy one of those?

Thanks, just ordered one. Do you put these as standard in all of your MS3 builds?

Braineack 03-18-2011 04:16 PM

Nope. I just went looking for one that would be physically the same as the MPX4250AP, that comes with the kits, but meter higher pressures. That's what I found for you.

This will literally drop in place.

You the man!

Reverant 03-18-2011 05:05 PM

But that can only read up to 101 freaking PSI??? Does anyone in here actually idle at less than that?

Braineack 03-18-2011 05:15 PM

its in absolute.

the one we all use is 2.9 ~ 36.3 PSI, this is 2.18 ~ 101.5 PSI

Reverant 03-18-2011 05:34 PM

So even less than 100psi of boost??? Fail.

Braineack 03-18-2011 05:45 PM

sadly it only reads up to 86psi of boost.

Reverant 03-18-2011 05:52 PM

Useless POS.

miatauser884 03-18-2011 08:25 PM

Who doesn't plan on boosting to 86psi???? If boost < 86psi then :loser:
