ECU choice dilemma for a daily drive
I've been through a few of these cars; history seems to dictate that I sell the car a few months after fitting an aftermarket standalone ECU.
Right now I'm using a chipped factory NB Denso ECU, scaled for RX-8 injectors and fuel/ignition mapped out on the dyno. It drives like a more powerful MSM without the epic hesitation the MSM has. We started with the MSM tables and made adjustments from there. I have a spare factory ECU I'm in the process of mapping out I/O and hooking up to the debugger interface on the CPU (BDM), but it's going to take a shitload of time to do otherwise trivial things like dwell adjustment. Using a Millenia S AFM should allow me to run like 20psi without maxing out the voltage. Again, it all takes lots of time. Alternatively I could throw in the towel and go for another aftermarket unit, but the ones I've used in the past haven't driven/started/idled as refined as the OE Denso unit. I've played with MegaSquirt 1 and Adaptronic. I could never quite get the MegaSquirt to idle properly with the JRSC and air con. The Adaptronic was set up quite nicely in the end (again with JRSC and air con), although you could still tell it wasn't a OE setup. My current turbo setup probably isn't as demanding as the supercharger when it comes to idle. Who here has an aftermarket ECU, daily drives their MX-5 in city conditions and hasn't gone batshit insane? If so, please tell me about your setup and experiences. Cheers |
Can I tell you about mine? :giggle:

Did someone say "Enhanced MS3x"?

I don't know but I heard some "give Reverant a buzz..." whisper.
