ECU DECISION HELP

I have a 1990 with a 1.8 from a 95, and a 1991 with a worn out 1.6. I recently came into a 2005 vvt and want to drop it into the '91. My eventual goal is to turbo the car and would like to get 200-255 rwhp. That is a ways off though and i only mention it as it has bearing on my decision for my ECU. I have been researching for a few days and there is just too much info out there. LOTS of opinions both for and against any given product. I have narrowed it down to either the Hydra or the MS3. I read another similar post here on this forum, but it mainly dealt with the ms3 vs the ms2 + vvt control. I have a good working knowledge of engines and electronics. I have done several engine swaps and rebuilds, but I am in no way an expert. In fact, this will be my first actual tune. I live in the DFW area so there are some good shops that can bail me out if I get too lost. I am asking for advice on which ECU would fit my application best.

Thanks,

-Chris

MS3x or slow painful horrible death.

MS3x or AEM are the only 2 EMS I can recommend, but MS3x is my personal preference over the two.

That bad huh? I was hoping that the tech support on the Hydra from fm was going to be worth the extra $. At least it puts the turbo in financial reach again. I can put the savings towards that goal.

MS3-Basic from MSLabs. I <3 my MS3

unless said support includes FM flying to you and setting up your car start to finish, its really not all that awesome

Thanks for the quick responses. Looks like it is unanimous. MS3 it is.
Thank you!

I will have more questions...Lots more. I will try to do my due diligence and research first before I ask though.

Ok, I have finally ordered my ECU. I went with the ms3 as it was the overwhelming favorite amongst other users. I will keep everyone posted as to how my project is going. I have the VVT motor on the stand and ready to drop in. Thanks for the info.
