ECU with no VTCS control - default position open or closed ?
Hey,
With a standalone ECU that does not control VTCS, do I need to do anything or is it open by default ? Thanks |
pretty sure they are normally open, they close with vacuum when the solenoid is active.
|
On "MS3 Basic" the output for VCTS is configured to switch "on" when under 2300rpm and 60C.
Can I understand from this that it is normally open (not restrictive) ? Thanks |
thats exactly what he just said
|
What they said. It's a cold start aid to reduce emissions and stabilize cold idle. Warm car doesn't use it at all I dont believe.
|
correct. and you'll definitely feel it if you accidentally enabled it while driving because you'd lose 90% power
|
And for the last time, your Haltech DOES control VTCS.
|
I know Haltech can control VTCS, but if the default position is open I can spare one output.
The patch loom does not utilize it, it needs to be modified for VTCS control. |
Remove the VTCS butterflies from your intake manifold. Forget about controlling them. Have a beer.

better with less work: replace VTCS IM with VICS or flattop. |
True, but less money for beer than....
Point being, stop wasting time trying to control them. |
