Default Emb issues

Hi guys. Installed my emb on my mk1, the car pops and bangs but sounds really tight while turning over, it came off another mk5 but mapped for a different set up. Will this be my issue? If so how do I get a standard map for my emb? Thanks

Got a timing light? Could be too advanced. That 'too tight' sound can be the engine slowing down under cranking as the combustion tries to push the pistons the wrong way against the starter.
