Experiencing random E8 on LC1?

I have spent the last 4 hours reading innovates forum. Suffice it to say, a lot of pissed users. Yea yea, I know the drill, people dont comment when shit actually works. Bottom line, there are disgruntled users. I am one of them fighting E8 problems since day one, only to have the unit actually work a total of 3 months without issue, then to come back in a span of 2 years(im on my second unit now, not even a week old, same issues) of ownership.

Anyway, from all the reading I did, it seems that everyone who experiences spontaneous E8's during normal driving conditions, like me, has downgraded to firmware v1.0. Which cleared up the issue.

Truth be told I have no idea why I didnt think of this sooner, maybe because its not available for download.

I found it on their forum and as soon as I get my new cable im going to downgrade the unit. Hopefully it will work for me as it has for others.

Just a heads up to anyone else experiencing weird calibration loss and E8 issues with their LC1.

Ill upload the file to a host soon as I get home for whoever wants it.

Burned the firmware this evening, will know tomorrow if it worked or not.

P.S. New LM Programmer works with USB-Serial adapters OMFG.

If memory serves E8 is the error I got when my ground was shitty (forgot to tighten it back down after working on the car one time).

my .50 heatsink solved my E8 issue.

No more E8 issues, firmware downgrade to 1.0 fixed everything.

The people on the Innovate forum were right, the firmware is buggy.

Im upset I didnt try this sooner, its been a huge headache for a long ass time. But now that its done, thank god.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm having the exact same issues. One issue for me was that when it went into error mode it would default to 10.0AFR causing MS to start pulling fuel up to my EGO limit. I disabled EGO so MS wouldn't pull any more fuel, but still it can cause some problems. I was under warranty so I sent in the sensor only to have them contact me and tell me to send in the controller as the sensor tested OK. I would try this fix, but without my sensor, I can't really test it. I'll send in the controller and see what they say.
BTW, I was very careful on all my grounds and even tried a heatsink even though the car is completely stock so that shouldn't matter.

They can be a bit stubborn. When I sent them my controller for warranty, they insisted I send them my sensor when I know for a fact it cant be a brand new sensor with less then 50 miles on it. Never the less, I just changed the zip ties on my old sensor(which I know was shot) to make it look new and sent them that.

I just dont understand why they cant check the controller with a known good sensor in their lab. If it works then you rule out the controller and look for other underlying issues, why make extra work.

BTW. I hate that they use 1/8 mini plugs for the cables, I had to send my LC1 in for warranty because the tip from the RS232 cable broke off in the OUT port.

Well, I'll vent here about Innovate LC1 and my Error 8 issues. After sending back my sensor to Innovate I get a call that the sensor is fine and I need to send in my controller. It takes a week for me to get around to it and I sent the controller off at lunch today. At 2pm I get an e-mail saying my sensor is in fact, NOT OK and since it's not covered under warranty, I'll need to buy another one. I'm hoping they will at least reimburse my shipping on the controller. When I get both the sensor and controller back I'm going to try the earlier firmware. Can't hurt. Also, I'm a bit irritated they didn't at least mention that there was no chance of them replacing the sensor before I sent it in. I know it's stated on their site, etc, but when I sent in my RMA request, I was very clear I was returing the sensor "for replacement." They replied with the RMA so I thought they were OK with that. Guess not.
