Haltech E6K

looking ofr anyone who knows of a good map or someone who know's how to tune this setup.

Haltech E6k running:
1.8 miata
Head has Web cams and solid lifters.
550cc RX7 injectors
T28 Garrett with A/R .80 coldside.
and an HKS intercooler.

setup was originally in a Mazda Protege, and put together by Corksport, but I want to try to get this together myself, and learn in the process.

Thanks, I searched just didn't find many similar cases, and wanted to find someone using this right now...

I think Matt[exz3owner] runs this. Not sure though...

EDIT: Nevermind. Some website says he is runnning Hydra.

I guess I will just call Corksport, and have them walk me through it... hoping I could just handle it myself for now... will keep researching it to see if I can't make something work.

arghhh, no one wants to tune my haltech e6k either.

You guys need to find a real tuner. A real tuner can tune anything- the principal is the same and if they've got any skill figuring out the software is not an unsurmountable task. Try some local performance oriented forums?

Issue here is, from what I can tell, the software interface isn't even windows based, it all DOS based. Maybe if you hook your laptop to it and get the interface to work, a tuner could do something with it. I'm sure mine would, but he's here in NY.

Call english racing. They are right behind corksport and have loads of experience tuning cars.

Yah, you just need to find an old laptop with a hardwired serial port on it, and then any tuner should be able to figure out the software.

My point being that you're basically analyzing a datalog, making map adjustments, uploading/saving and then datalogging again. I looked at the Halwin DOS software and it's not much more crude that what I use for the LINK. Most recent laptops will boot to a thumbdrive- dos and the halwin app would easily fit there.

to bad I couldn't run this off a PALM or other handheld... that would actually be kind of cool.

I think I am going to throw in the towel on this, and go with the majority to MS.

who's a good source that gives back to the forum for a MS system? MSPNP?

I figure I can get $500-700 out of the Haltech E6k so I would be able to spend something around that if I need to.

done more research, these appear to be semi-sequential which is apparently an upgrade to the Megasquirt systems? interesting. put it in the for sale section, but will keep researching, and try to get something figured out with it.

ok, jerked this off the RX7 club.

using one of the Dos simulators specifically Dosbox,

and one of these adaptors for a serial port:

keyspan serial adaptor (USB)
PCMCIA adapter (Card)

with this you can run it with a Vista and XP based laptop and still be ok...

I may keep it and give it a shot... that is if if doesn't sell... I may use the money from it if it sales to fund a forged bottom end then put off getting the turbo and engine management installed 'till some time at a later date.
