Ignition Table + (V)TPS/Starts

Got two separate questions for y'all.

1) Quick glance: what do you think of my ignition table? '95 engine, '91 chassis/ECU (MS2PNP), Garrett GT2560R turbo, "tan" 254cc 1.8L injectors.

I'm HOPING it's considered "conservative".

I've been AutoTuning for AFR's and Fuel/VE table, but this one, this is just magic to me. I think I pulled it from some base map or another.

2) Starting her up has been a *pain*. I have to feather her throttle just right and then it catches and starts to idle.

But it is not a question of "press button, receive zooms", as it used to be pre-MegaSquirt.
Wondering if it's because I'm still using the non-variable TPS that comes stock with 1.6's (have not upgraded to a VTPS from a BMW/Kia...yet).

If so...why? Just honest curiosity that I feel I'm not understanding something and want to educate myself.

Thanks, all!

Buy a VTPS and some 640CC injectors and tuning will become a whole lot easier

My question isn't regarding tuning - it's specifically if the difficulty starting and if that's related to the lack of VTPS.

And if my ignition timing map is sufficiently conservative that I don't have to worry about putting extraneous wear-and-tear on my engine (or knock, for that matter).

For what it's worth, 640cc's are on my to-do list, but one battle at a time right now.

You drop 12 degrees from 101 kpa to your 128 kpa row. That's awful. FYI you can cause damage by retarding timing to much.

Your ignition table isn't causing your starting problem though.

This is the info I was looking for.

How do people come up with timing maps (especially smooth ones)?

Guess I'll be paying for a tuning specialist after all.
