Issues with setting base timing in megasquirt

Hey all,

I am having a super hard time setting base timing in megasquirt. I set fixed advance to fixed timing and timing for fixed advance to 10 degrees. I set trigger angle to -17 and timing light showed the timing was 0 degrees on the ati damper. Changed trigger angle to -25 and still no change in timing, still showing 0 degrees. I e changed trigger angle from -17 to -60 and all those angles have still come to the timing light showing 0 degrees. I’ve done a composite log and everything came up fine. I am literally at a loss I have no clue what is going on. Here are some specs of my build and some other settings I have set to in ignition options/wheel decoder:

1996
bp4w swap
ms3pnp pro
all NB sensors
wasted spark
Ignition input capture: falling edge
Spark output: going high

should be it. I appreciate any help!

Why on earth is the trigger angle negative 17?

psyber_0ptix 03-17-2019 08:00 PM

That would be retarding 17 degrees, right?
Output test mode to ensure spark is firing when it should, batch injection/wasted spark
Use 99-05 trigger wheel input for your NB sensors not 4g63 or miata 36-2

@Morgan Hunt you can post up your .msq file (your tune)

Also start a build thread so we can see what you're doing from the start. We like Pictures :D

Updates?

because he'll never update this...his trigger wheel was installed backwards.
