Looking for some help!

Hey guys.

I will soon be purchasing a stand alone (likely from Braineack) for my Greddy turboed Miata car so I can finally go to bigger injectors, get rid of my AFM, Bipes timing controller, Begi AFPR and all other equipment that can go in the process. I’ll have the LC1 installed prior to this. Although I do most all the work on this car myself, I purchased the car with the turbo set up already installed and honestly I am a little intimidated by taking on the engine management side of things alone. I should have base maps that should get me in the ballpark which should make things much easier. I am located in Santa Rosa CA and thought I’d see if any of you with expertise in this area might be willing to spend an afternoon giving me a hand when the time comes… $?… Trade? Let me know. I’ll supply the beer!

Thanks!
Lance

Alright... How about recommendations of shops that offer this kind of service?!

Has anyone used 034 Racing's services in the Bay Area? I was checking out their website and may end up giving them a shot.

Good luck, brother. Somebody here should be able to tell you something, I would think.

You would think! I can't be the first person in this position!

Super i would help you if i was local but im not i think you might be making more out of the situation than it is worth. Do alittle more research and i am sure you will develop a greater understanding of enginemanagement etc. If you feel confident enough to install a LC1 then you can install most of the off theshelf units into a miata trust me man. If i can figure it out over here in KY you can do it in California. There are tons more threads and online resources today than when i first went with ems or turbo for that matter. GL man.

Also if it breaks then your still the one stuck fixing it. You migth as well know how before it breaks instead of learning after.

I am not overly familiar with the geography of CA, but I know Savington at TrackSpeed Engineering is somewhere in the state. If you are willing to spend some money, he definitely will be able to get an MS up and running well.

Magna-mx5. I think you are right, I am making this out to be more than it is. I just don't want the car to be down if I encounter problems and not have anyone to give me a hand! I think I'm just going to do a little more research and take the plunge. Do you know of any good links that get into the different software being used and how to effectively utilize it?!

There are a ton of guys out in the bay area.
Trackspeed as well as 949 racing and many others.

check out norcal roadsters.com if you haven't already and ask this question there

034 is a legit Audi shop I would trust them to set it up if they do work with megasquirt. On the other hand, I'm in the bay area and set up my mspnp by myself, I'm not great with it but i could help you out if you want, send me a pm

superl 02-02-2011 08:16 PM

I didn't know 949 was out of the Bay Area...

Wittyworks I'll pm you thanks!

18psi 02-02-2011 08:31 PM

I know they're somewhere south, might be farther than the bay though.
In any case, there's tons of turbo miata peeps in your area
