ME221 ecu - full retard

Hey,

I'm helping a guy here and the current state is the car "cuts" at around 5000rpm (NB05) 220-230kpa, current timing is 6deg...

Could the retard timing cause that ?
What would be same timing with 98RON fuel ?

Thanks
Elior

is it the Launch control activating? are you experiencing spark blowout? what ignition and how much boost?

elior77 04-26-2017 08:24 AM

1 Attachment(s)
Checking about the LC, spark blowout = misfire ?

R8 red cops and 220-230kpa boost (17-18psi)

LC is set at 4000... but when this "cuts" happen it is normal pull with no clutch engagement.

In the attched pic you can see the rpm drop at around 5500rpm with 7deg.

Stock engine? Compression?

elior77 04-26-2017 08:47 AM

Manley rods, all stock

Braineack 04-26-2017 09:12 AM

6°?!

I'd be running closer to 16...

might be one of the most retarded spark maps ive seen to date.

Reverant 04-26-2017 11:26 AM

Definitely too retarded, however 220-230kPa with stock pistons isn't going to last long, even with rods.

Post log and tune please

elior77 04-27-2017 01:32 AM

It is an ME221, I will post the files shortly.

The car came to me with this map and cuts at around 5500rpm, after tuning it yesterday I got it up to about 12deg at 210kpa no knock but the cuts came back after a couple of hours...

Braineack 04-27-2017 07:10 AM

oh that explain everything.

Check injector duty.

They have a stupid hard coded fuel cut once the Injectors reach something like 90% duty cycle

18psi 04-27-2017 03:08 PM

never go full retard

The ME221 have fuel cut at 90% ?? really ?? well... it does show around 90%, we use FF640cc 210-220kpa, 90% is true ?

You would have to ask the makers of the ME221 about that. As there is very little support for it outside of them.

Yea, there was something Motorsport Electronics posted somewhere on Facebook recently that mentioned it. It may be 95% it cuts at but it definately cuts fuel/spark at a hard coded injector pulse width

I opened 42 tickets in the last 18 months, some related to hardware (missing component, some fw bugs and some software and gui bugs, I must say that they responded to all of them and implemented most of my feedback - at first they questioned my tuning ability but at the end I saw that my ticket turned into "change log" on the never-ending beta 2.0 rc27.... fw.

Digging through the software (between the crashes) I found a setting called PW Limiter Mod. No idea what it means, but it might point to where your issue is.

Can't find that, I use version 1.7.1
