ME442
All,
I did a dumb thing which cost me money in the end. I purchased a 2005 Miata engine with the wring harness, my plan was to use the 2005 harness for my 1990 turbo build with the ME442 01-05 ECU. Long story short this plan was not feasible as it was going to be a difficult process for me as I am not electrically savvy nor do I truly understand ECU tuning at this point. I purchased a MS3Pro 90-93 and plan to use that now, silver lining there is more support for the MS3 in the US over the ME442. A little to late now to return anything but was it possible to de-pin the 1990 ECU harness and pin it accordingly to the 01-05 ME442? P.S. I have a brand new ME442 01-05 for sale :) |
Yep, those copycat ECUs are hot garbage. You should do much better now.

You weren’t going to have an easy time using the 01-05 harness. They’re different pins, and each harness integrates into the entire chassis harness in different ways. I’ve wired a ‘93 race car with a 01-05 harness, and we ended up buying a chassis harness and battery/fuse box harness to go with the engine harness, and trimming all three down to bare minimums.

I repinned a '91 to a NB1. I also have a degree in Electrical Engineering and 22 years of discipline experience.
buying the correct ECU for your chassis was the right call. |
