Megasquirt 1 v2.2 mx5
Hey guys new to this but have read for weeks. Watched all youtube videos and all!
I have a 1990 1.6l eunos roadster British green with a/c and power steering. I have a old blitz turbo kit 1.6l header k26 turbo( bit to big for me) want td04 or 05 external gate 460cc injectors from rx7,8 red/brown band boost gauge and line oil feed have few other things to get as on limited budget. I picked this up online and was running a 4g63t as far as I can see its a megasquirt 1 v2.2 with few mods like pin idle, launch and ignitor (wasted spark??) All my iac wires are used for these on the db37 Pin 25- cam pin27- ignitor pin29- ignitor pin31-launch here's some pics https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...11e1158a8a.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f6eda93b9b.jpg as from what I have read this is all mx5 compatible. correct? I will be modding board to have an electronic boost controller here's a map https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3d1730e63c.png So just need to get the bits and away we go. do I need a vtps for EBC? is manual controller okay for this set up? I have made a map from online sources and seems legit. my grounds are not soldered in yet so just db37 Pin 19 and the jumped grounds too it are hooked up. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...dbc72f6b8c.jpg Had a idea to make pin 36 fans but didn't go with it. -to make a/c work is it as simple as running a wire from 1q and 1j? -can i wire fans to launch line? assuming this is allgood once I get the sensor ground soldered up. I moved my research on and found info on the Throttle position sensor (TPS) and the manual 1.6 has an old on off style one that MS cannot use. Thus having to unplugged it resulting in idle issues. I read you can upgrade this using a auto miata throttle body with tps attached or go find old bmw vtps with the big 6pin socket. picture is from my research https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d4d9d7f1d7.jpg May be confusing but pretty sure it's right. Can also opt in for wells201tps I have to remove the MAF for the conversion and have a old iat ( intake air temp ) sensor think from a Toyota air box pretty generic closed sensor with ball on top. will this work okay rather then getting a gm open style sensor. Easytherm? Have downloaded but don't know how to do. can easily get gm style one but if this one works okay saves money. Once that's installed I can plug in to MAF plug 1 & 6 and do fuel jump from 2&7 wideband is high priority as I need to tune MS. will be getting shortly. looking at this can i start base tuning ms on Factory mx5 (wideband in) ? anything specific to do in tunerstudio as was on a 4g63t? thanks all and appreciate all help. Please point out if I made a mistake. |
been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've touched a v2.2:

Yeah sorry to throw you back haha. Just got on the cheap.
from what it looks I have the main mods needed to run a mx5. Question time. 1. Can I use launch circuit to control fans relay? 2. Is a vtps essential or does it only help with idle droop 3. Can I use any generic IAT? 4. Pins 1 to 19 are ground but have no sensor ground, I just make two separate wires on spare pins and tie up with 2c and 2d? I know it's old news. I'm great with electronics and couldn't say no to a cheap ecu. Only looking for 250hp |
1. use the middle LED circuit for fan.
2. it helps with accel enrichments more than anything, idle droop as well on the old ms1 firmware. 3. yes. 4. correct, main point is all sensors ground at the MS. |
You the man brain!
Ill message if anything drastic happens but should go smoothly. Pretty confident!! |
So confused with fans.
Can I run a wire from middle led ground right to pin 36 on db37? do I need to add the resistor to circuit like other two leds? |
