MS Droid Misfires

Hi, can MS Droid detect misfires? I know i can look for lean spots (although lots of things I think can cause lean spots so I am not sure what is really a "lean spot" so is MS Droid with MegaSquirt able to actually log a misfire?

LS d585 coils
Batch Fire

Thanks

You can't just pull up a log and choose a calculated field that reads "misfires" or anything like that but like you said usually lean spikes are a good way to look for misfires. Also you can look at the rpm and rpm dot in the log and check the area where you believe a misfire is happening.

Here's some more info that I found when I was in a similar situation. I would recommend using megalogviewer as well if you have a laptop.

Thank you and I will be taking a look at rpmdot large drops/. Is there a device I can keep plugged onto the 4 spark plug wires to validate they are firing?

you can get a timing light and test the wires that way but that only works when the cars idling. As far as a permanent device you can use im not exactly sure. When in the map do you believe you have a misfire? Maybe post a tune and a log.

Timing light is the method I use to help figure out which one is bad without doing the unplug test. Thing is I might buy another amazon or ebay set of coils and it would be great if there was easy way to find know when one is bad. I would hate to have to spend double or triple for more reliable ones. Junk yards are getting pricey too and even still hard to know for sure when one goes bad. I have a significant amount of power from my BPT so when one fails I don't always realize right away as they seem to sporaticaly fail and not just straight up die.

Are you forced induction? Why not do ls coils. I wouldn't buy any stock coils on ebay or Amazon. I think I have a set of coils for an nb1 if that's your year.

Yes turbo. 4 LS Coils in batch fire. I do not push enough boost (max at 14 psi) to need sequential for more dwell so batch is fine. Spark is not blowing out. Just coils ;)
