New Innovate WB Controller on the Market: MTX-L

Did you guys know about this and just not tell me?

It is an all-in-one instead of the LC-1 plus the XD-16 or whatever it was called.

It says it is OK to use it with leaded fuels, but I'm a little skeptical because it looks like the same O2 sensor we always had.

Yeah its pretty cool. At $199 its going to kill everything else since there's very little wiring involved now. The only real drawback is that it doesn't have a calibration button - you have to remove the sensor, unplug it, power up, power down, plug sensor in free air, power up, power down, reinstall sensor. I'm pretty sure people will even find that sequence difficult to remember/do.

I read about that the day after I ordered the XD16, $100 cheaper too.

That gauge is heinous though.

Yeah but it has interchangeable faceplates lol. Is it a gauge or a phone?

My phone does't flash gay lights in a circle when I drive around. It has a numerical display, that's all anyone needs, they can keep the stupid light show.

Oooh, nifty... Probably 'about time' tho really.

I heard about this a couple weeks ago. Not nearly as nice as the XD-16 as it doesn't have the ambient light sensor, the max/min detection, the ability to read other (non-wideband) data channels. Still, a much better looking gauge than the DB series.

The way I see it this is just to compete with AEM's UEGO and all the problems LC-1 installations have caused. I briefly considered getting one after my LC-1 was pronounced toast but Innovate has claimed it's the same basic controller as the LC-1, so I elected to stay away.

Actually, it's the same controller as the LM-2's. It has had a couple updates since the LC-1 design.

Hmm, I wish I had known that. I searched around and found a quote by one of Innovate's marketing guys that it was the same basic controller as the LC-1, so that's when I gave up on it. I would have at least considered it then, as I like the Innovate gauge designs and configurability a lot better than the AEM's.

Do you happen to know the differences between these designs? I have an LM-1, several LC-1s and a single channel LM-2, which I don't fully trust yet.

No idea. I've seen a PCB that had the LM-2 wideband circuit on it (just the wideband control portion - they were considering marketing it to OEMs), and it was about twice the size of my thumbnail. But they didn't give out any technical details of it.
