perfect running car is now less so. won't start.

So I backed the track car out of the garage today to nut and bolt it after a race, and it wouldn't start. Car gets spark (I shocked the shit out of myself when turning it over with the #4 plug pulled to test). Fuel and oil pressures are good. Battery has a full charge. Car turns over, but does not attempt to fire as if I was turning it over without either fuel or spark. After about 10 seconds of turn over, the fuel in the tailpipe ignited with a bang. happened twice.

Car started when I pulled it off the trailer to put it in the garage 2 weeks ago, but took more effort than normal to start and the idle was unnaturally high. (2k) But this might be because it used to run at sea level and now I live in Dallas.

Any suggestions on what to check? Car is a turbo car with a FM stroker running a Hydra. Program in the Hydra appears to be fine. I haven't done anything other than drive the car for the last 6 months. Everything should be fine...

Thanks in advance...

check the cam and crank sensors (if it has them)

I'd call FM, their customer service is legendary, they'll fix your problem.

Y8s- I was thinking the same thing. Is there a way to test if the CAS is good without replacing it? Could be the wiring, but i kinda doubt it...

checking the rpm pulse is pretty easy. the hydra software will show RPM matching your tach. not sure how to check the cam pulse easily. a start is to check the sensor itself, make sure it's not loose.

Matt, I have a spare CAS and coils laying around. Trey gave you my phone number.

or I could have just fowled the plugs so bad they were wet when I pulled them out. strange. Hasn't happened before...

John- let's catch up later today.

fuel - spark - compression - timing

Have you put a light on it while cranking? You should see a significant advance over base timing while cranking. Not seeing that might be indicative of a timing issue (sensor etc.)

sorry, I should have been more clear. The plugs were indeed boogered to hell. New plugs and the car started right up.

Start with the simple stuff first, right?

So now, this next weekend, we'll take our first crack at MSR in Cresson TX. :)
