Pro EFI

So my buddy is looking at getting a Pro Efi for his 94 miata. I have tried to convince him to go with MS so many times but his tuner (what is that lol jk) is running one on an Evo and so I wanted to get a little more info if anyone has ever set one up before on a miata. The DIYer in me would like to harness how to set up Pro Efi but their site is limited and it seems like they dont give you shit till you pay monies up front. I have emailed them asking for a .srz to configure but still havent gotten a reply.

From what I've heard from other communities, ProEFI is great if your professional tuner is an expert with it. If you're trying to install and tune it yourself, god help you.

I figured if it was so great Trackspeed, 949, FM, BEGi or any miata turbo vendor for that matter would sell it. Seeing as the only have a harness on their site for the 94 makes me think its underdeveloped for our cars.

We (FSAE team) tried out ProEFI for two years I believe, we never really got the hang of it, and end up switching with much success. But, there are also plenty of people that have had great success with ProEFI. It seems really popular in the MKIV Supra community.

You can't save everybody. Some have to learn the hard way.

I hear its cool stuff, but with no one in the community having done it before, I wouldn't want to be a $2,000 guinea pig

I been playing with the software a bit and what drives me crazy is that there seems to be a base tune beneath that can not be changed with out a new .srz file. Which can only be had from a Pro EFI dealer. Fuck it im tired of messing with it. Every ECU out there besides Pro EFI seems like a better solution with more flexibility. *Off Topic* I started playing with AEM tuner, Adaptronic and Hydra(on a guys car at the meet) and all seemed better than Pro EFI. However none compare to the simplicity and community that the MS and TunerStudio provide <3 :makeout:

I'm no professional tuner but I've been messing with proefi stuff for a few years. The base calibration that you can't change is usually just involves the hardcoding for the ECU to read the timing pattern. Most of the other parameters can be changed, but it can be cumbersome at times. Some things can be changed on the fly, such as timing and fueling, but if you want to change something more sensor related, such as the output curve of a temperature sensor, you'll need to create a new .srz file. It just takes saving as a new calibration and reloading it.
