Roast my tune?

Hey all, recently finalized my VVT engine swap into my 1999 Chassis running a SpeedyEFI Speeduino standalone.

I have a lot of engineering experience so I was able to get every feature of the ECU hooked up and functional, but I may as well be a monkey when it comes to actually tuning the car once it's driving. When I made my tune, there was no base map available for the 1999 cars on Speeduino so I kind of pieced it together myself after a lot of reading these forums and piecing together information from Megasquirt and Speeduino users.

My VE table probably looks like nightmare material to you guys, but I have some shred of confidence in the rest of the tune. AFR's are pretty solid all around (at least to my non-existent knowledge) and overall the car drives excellently with plenty of butt-dyno power to boot.

If someone can also take a look at my VVT map, I'd appreciate it. I got it off someone's working N/A setup on these forums and it feels pretty good while driving.

My car:
VVT Motor from a 2001 Miata, currently naturally aspirated
"short" air intake which is on the passenger side of the motor
Raceland header with no cats in the exhaust, just two resonators and a muffler
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
Stock coil pack system from NB1, need to switch to NB2 COP's or buy an aftermarket kit.
Everything else is pretty much stock engine wise

I've attached a data log of me driving with some pulls, the tune itself and the Speeduino firmware for the tune in case you guys can't open it up.

Currently I'm having two issues regarding the ECU/tune side of the car:
1. Sometimes when doing a pull (it happened in the attached log), it seems like the ECU freezes or cuts all ignition events for a split second. This causes a tiny but violent buck when doing a pull. I'm in contact with one of the SpeedyEFI guys about this issue, thought I'd ask for advice here anyways.

2. After datalogging, I realized the car is leaning out a bit towards redline. I'll have to fix that by adding some fuel but that is a current issue in the log.

3. This tune is made by me, there is bound to be mistakes.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks a lot.

Here is the link to the Speeduino firmware since the forums won't let me upload it directly: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ePj...ew?usp=sharing

So actually, after looking at some more logs...

It looks like I found the source of my "stutter" when I'm doing a pull. The ECU seems to think the motor is at 12,000rpm for a split second which shuts down all ignition events. :eek4:

Congrats on getting this up and running. I'm about to tackle the same. Did you use a PNP kit or wire your own board? Sorry I can't provide help; im just about to send in an order.

Thanks!

I got my hands on a prototype of a PNP board from SpeedyEFI for the 1999 Miata. I got it a few months before they released it so the base map which came with it was absolutely not useable on my car for some reason.

They currently sell the PNP for 1999 cars with a good base map though, I'd recommend it. Their support is really good too.
