We feel these are overdue - the factory ECU mounts in a protected area in the footwell, but this location has no flat area to offer a good DIY mounting area, and the ECU wiring length limits your options for how far you can move it. We've seen some seriously poor excuses for mounts simply due to the lack of a good solution.

This bracket places your aftermarket ECU in the stock location under the factory kick plate. The hole patterns included in the bracket cover most of the popular ECUs for our cars.

I'd like to eventually have a solution for each of the various year's ECU locations where mounting a universal box is problematic. 99+ is probably the next on the list as I have one of those sitting here.

These ECUs cost a substantial amount of money. DIY Autotune's mounting "tips" suggest zip ties and sheet metal screws for lack of a better solution. Unacceptable in our opinion. Most other ECU mfgs just avoid the topic all together. :vash:

Please in mind that the 99+ versions have the Antilock brake module on the right side of that space...

A good way to dampen vibration is to put some rubber isolators between the mount and the chassis (or the ecu and the mount).

I never cared for the whole zip ties and screws method.

The 99+ ECU is mounted the exact same way without any damping, so I don't think this will be a problem...

Yeah it really surprises me that an $800+ ecu never even entertained the idea that someone might want to mount it properly, you know, not with big zip ties just hanging there like a dingleberry

So what about a Rev box? They don't have any flanges sticking out, so the only real option is zip ties. I suppose the easiest solution would be zip tying it through one of the hole patterns on the bracket?

Also, any idea on price?

You can envisioning making a clamp bracket over the behemoth.
Mine is wrapped in metal strapping which is bolted to a A-frame made from scrap alu strips. The whole contraption is then bolted to the stock three places.
But better design would make less strain on the harness and the connectors on the other side (it's big and the ABS makes it impossible(?) to mount sideways).

Damn you Ryan, now there is yet another thing I have to be ashamed for... :)

We've done that in the past too. Better solution than sheet metal screws into the car, but I'm still not personally a fan of cutting up the glove box and losing storage space in a DD/street car. I've also seen more than once MAP lines getting pinched from opening/closing the glove box and then having running issues.

This allows for the cleanest bolt-on install, eliminates headaches, and has no impact on the limited storage space in the car.

I'll add to this, putting the ECU in your glove box introduces a substantial amount of vibration to the ECU as well. I've seen shoddy crimp and solder jobs on ECUs fail as a result. I'm super stoked we were able to bring this out, I've grown sick of seeing zip tied ECU's in clients cars when I tune.

I must be an idiot because I don't understand how you could get the factory kick plate to fit over this? I'm out of town right now so I can't take any photos, but my Rev MS2 is a tight fit between the floor and the kick plate. With this bracket jacking the whole thing up a few inches I can't see how you could bolt the protective kick plate over it.

We've entertained the idea, and it always ends up adding $150 to the price of the ECU, as you need a custom enclosure (tooling costs, minimum orders) and custom brackets (ditto).

Maybe its ok to add $150 if the ECU costs $2,000 to begin with, however I don't see it happening on a $500-$900 ECU. I would rather add $150 of awesome features rather than brackets.

The bracket doesn't 'jack' it up at all. There are only millimeters of clearance to the floor, and the bracket itself is very slim. The placement is carefully set for clearance in all areas by nesting it in the deepest pocket of the footwell and setting it an at angle that is parallel with the kick plate surface instead of the floor surface.

Look at the installed pic in the first post. The kick plate fits over that. MSPNP, MS3 Pro, AEM EMS-4 and Adaptronic all fit under there using this bracket. I can't speak for Reverent's ECUs because I don't have one on hand nor do I have measurements.

Since the Rev boxes don't have mounting tabs, designing an add-on piece to bolt them to the bracket would just be a matter of getting one in my hands for a day.
