Stick with Link, or switch to MSPNP?
 

OK, I'm a real novice with ECU's and tuning. I turbo'd my 94 10 years ago (FM2). It came with link, and I followed the instructions. It ran pretty well, but certainly had cold start issues and could have used a good tune.
Now, 2 kids later, the car has sat for a while (read years). I'm rebuilding it, and wonder if the current MSPNP is a better setup than the 10yo Link? Obviously I need to get my self in gear wrt learning how to tune either set up if I'm going to get it to perform at it's best.
Seems like Hydra might be the best bet... but there is no way I'm paying $2000 when I already have a standalone in my car!

If you go to ms. At least go ms2

I'm going to second Brain's suggestion on this one (as usual). MS1 is great, but you get a lot of cool and useful features with the MS2 for a marginal increase in price.

You'll be able to get a better tune MUCH easier with the MS than the link, plus you'll get great support from this forum and the megasquirt forums to boot.

IMO grab a ms2, my old turbo setup i had a link but now i have a MS things are alot easier and make more sence.

Hi Guys, this advice is relevant to my siutation. I have a Link G3 in my new to me car. Idle is not great, partial throttle is not great and off throttle back on is not great. full throttle seems good!

I can pay to have it tuned better (i presume) but wonder if a MS2 etc would self tune better and the money should be best spent there than on a dyno tune for the the link g3...?

I think most responses were assuming you had an FM LINK.

You have a G3 which is a very powerful piece of kit, it just sounds like it's been tuned badly. I'd have the tune looked at and leave it at that.
