Tec 2 standalone

I have found a tec2 ecu for sale and it comes with manual, coils, trigger wheel and tuning program. What i need to know is can this ecu work with the CAS in the 92 miata? Also what would i need to hook this up to a laptop? Can i run the GM air and coolant temp sensors with this ecu?

I have tried to search info on this ecu but no info.:vash:

It runs without a cam signal and it requires a 60-2 crank trigger wheel.

But could i make it run the CAS?

Only if you cut open the CAS and install a 120 tooth wheel, then file two consecutive teeth off it, and two consecutive teeth 180 degrees away from the first two, to make it emulate a 60-2 crank wheel.

Electromotive won't work with anything besides a 60-2 pattern. Period. End of story.

Why are you so dead set on running a CAS? Why not use the crank trigger?

g_reichow 07-14-2011 06:35 PM

admittedly the trouble is finding a 90-93 crank mount to mount the trigger wheel to. Rick (can't remember his companies name) used to make em. I have one that will be for sale soon enough if you are interested and want to run a tec-2

I think I have my old 60-2 tooth wheel from TecII days and my billet sensor mount. I'd take $200 for the setup... ship any place in the US.

OP, you may consider contacting Electromotive and see if they can help you with all your questions. They connected me with the folks that built the mounting kit, and guided me through the whole process of using their product.

Edit: Mike, you beat me to the post.

g_reichow 07-15-2011 08:42 AM

electromotive will try and help but keep in mind they really want to upgrade you to the tec-3 as it is more supported. The hat for the wheel is the trickiest mount so if you find one, nab it. I'll be posting mine soon but need it until my 2.0 gets bolted back together.

I don't know if it helps, but another source is here - http://www.racetep.com/tec3.htm#Subaru!A1.

If you scroll down the page, you will note that they have a crank trigger mount for a 1994+ miata. No internal part number, no price listed. I speculate they maybe they did the fabrication for Ric Stephens or Shiv Pathek when they were pushing these.
