What are you doing to pinpoint time that det occurs

I'm logging and listening to my det cans. Up to this point I try to release the throttle immediately when I here det, then look at my log to see where in the timing map I was when I lifted the throttle. It works, because I manage to rid the car of knock, but I'm sure my reduction is overly aggressive because i can't pinpoint the exact time that the det is occurring so I pull spark out of a general area.

Is there a method of seeing it in the log that I just don't know about? AFR change, PW, etc?

As is, I try to backstep my log a little bit since I know that I don't lift the throttle exactly when I hear the det, so my response time is the factor that eludes me.

Hit the space bar when logging with TS and it will insert a mark in the log so you know where to look.

Couple things: if you start very conservative and work your way up gradually you shouldn't really hit knock threshold so hard that you'd need to lift immediately.
Also your logs should tell you exactly which rpm and boost/load you hit knock. Or are you not using a knock sensor?

Fantastic! do you know if you can insert multiple markers?

No knock sensor (sad part is there is actually one on the car, I just never wired it up)

Since I couldn't pinpoint the knock I always just pulled it until it went away. I know you have to pull more once it occurs than you do to prevent it in the first place. I never attempted to put it back in as a safety margin.

Stop being lame and wire up the knock sensor. If I can do it so can you.

I know, I know, but the electronic det cans are so sensitive, that once the knock is gone I'm golden.

Plus I have the elec. detcans run permanently in my car, so just hook up the headphones and take a listen.

You can insert as many as you want, when I am logging pulls I will quickly tap space bar the number of times for the gear I am starting the pull in.
